2012 Toronto Prop Party **JUNE 2nd, 2012**

Days Hotel
1677 Wilson Ave, North York, ON.

Admission Cost:
- $15 per person
- $5 each additional guest
- children under 10 years of age get in free.
- if you are bringing children over 10 years old, just PM me with the details and we can discuss reduced fees.

Attractions:
-Back to the Future Delorean time machine, courtesy of Odoc
-Han Solo in carbonite, courtesy of Orange_Blend

Features:
-Lots of long tables to show off props
-private room close to an entrance.
-Raffle prizes will be available
-Costuming will be welcome
-Lots of parking

Food
-pizzas will be ordered as well as some beverages, like we did last year.
-those driving can bring a small cooler
(for more details on food and beverages PM me)

Prizes:
Dr_Slurpee has been kind enough to help organize donations for prizes.
Feel free to contact him directly if you have anything you'd like to donate as a prize

Current Prizes:

1. Grail Diary - $300 value (generously donated by Orange_Blend)
2. Enterprise 12" patch (donated by Micdavis)

Buying, Selling, and Trading
Anyone who is interested in bringing props to sell or trade, go right ahead.
You may have assumed that already, but I'd like to encourage it if you want to.

Carpooling
For those who are limited in transportation because of what part of the great GTA you live in, anyone willing to offer carpooling and station pickups, that would be great. If anyone can swing it,
I'm sure it would be appreciated.

I'd like to thank everyone who attended last year's party. I think it went fairly well.

Well I'm hoping for this year's party to be even better.

I'm in for sure but definitely a larger room. Was hoping this year's would be a little later so that I can finish my HIC but you're right, you'll probably get more people in the spring.

Sooner we have a date the better!

We don't want it too close to Polaris in July and Fan Expo in August.
Any suggestions are always welcome.

I plan to see about better advertising of the event.

At least we can start planning well in advance.

I don't think September is too late. If that's the month I'll bring my HIC.

But schedule it for when you think you'll get the most people. My HIC can wait for next year if need be.

Also don't be discouraged if not many people post over the next month or so. A lot of folks are a little preoccupied with the problems going on right now!

Hopefully we will have got the wheels moving at least early in the year. Last year's had max 3 months to plan.

Ok, just some details to use as reference.

Last year's room was 33 x 36

next size up is 30 x 45 - we would have a better setup for tables - 2 longer sides

next above that is 57 x 41 and that's big, like a small convention size.

If you're advertising I'd go for the 57 x 41.

After this years xmas party, count me in.

I think you'll probably get the most people sometime late April. Weather is pretty good, people aren't on vacation yet, no conflict with other big events...

I'll be happy to donate another prize if we do a raffle. Perhaps a grail diary this time.

Also, I'll aim to finish some projects in time to bring them in for the party. It's a good deadline to set. I'll probably need 4 tables though... That okay?

Yeah, I like April too.

We'll have to plan it either before or after Easter.

If we get the bigger room you should have 4 tables no problem.
Comparing to last year's room, it would be like 1 length of the room.

We're in for sure! Mind you, April 14 is Wizardworld Comicon in Toronto (as well as AdAstra). So just avoid that date!

Well, those are the big ones here - Wizardworld, Polaris, FanExpo. but there are all sorts of smaller one's popping up. FanEx has a comicon coming up March 10-11, then there's the 2012 Canadian 80s Toy Expo on april 1st (they have 2 or 3 during the year)

Not into comics, toys (aside from Doctor Who CO stuff), or wizards so that just leaves me with Polaris & FanExpo.

Now if only they could get better guests at Polaris...

I didn't some to last summer's as it was the weekend after I just finished my PI course (2 weekends, all day Sat, all day Sun) and I was a little burned out.

As long as this doesn't conflict with any shows we may be doing...I'm in! Unfortunately it's still too soon for me to know what shows we'll be doing come Spring -Summer at this point...but if we can swing this, I'll be there again....hopefully with a display this time too.
