Hi.

Today I would like to present my detonation project.
I developed a Thermal Detonator (RotJ) for my RC costume.
I used a lot of pictures from the movie and MR pictures from the web.

At first everything was modeled with SolidWorks.

After that, everything was 3D-printed out by VisioTech:

Awesome work, that's super cool!

What did you use for the electronics, are they custom made too?

Edit: ..Never mind, just noticed the schematic that your electronic portion is sitting on top of! :facepalm

3D print is magic, and very good chrome. but see like smaller grain on the principal button problem of 3D print.

WOW...congratulations :thumbsup Totally awesome... good Job... If you get the surface smoother, the whole TD would be mind-blowing.

On the other hand, this makes the aging a little but more easy :lol :)

Thanks for sharing the info., how you did the TD. Always interessting to see the develpment of replicas :popcorn

Thank you for all the praise.

That looks great. What paint did you use for the chrome?
I am also interested. I saw this stuff the other day and was curious to try it. Did you use something like that?

It is a professional painting: a thin layer of silver is protected by several layer of clear coat.

Don't suppose there is going to be a run of them in the Junkyard soon?
OMG, any chance you can do a run of them?
You know you could sell a lot of them with all the SW fans out there, don't you?

No, the Thermal Detonator is too expensive for a possible run.

Where did you get the sound for it, if this is not a secret

YT and sound processing. :)

what paint exactly did you use on the TD? i've never seen chrome paint actually look chrome, laquer over chrome usually goes dull.

when you say it's too expensive for a run, how much are you talking?

If you're not going to do a "run" of them, any chance you'd share your 3D print files with the rest of us, some of whom might have access to a 3D printer? Please?
