Been working on this a little while with Mac, and now we feel like we can show it off. Couple of tweaks to make as well as tusks to add, but what do you think? :)

Very nice.

Is it just me or does the Y crease in the widows peak look overly sharp?

You guys do a great job in delivering these things in a timely manner. Quite refreshing in this hobby.

Keep it up!

It seems like the Y crease is one of the variables between the UK and US moulds so yes, this is certainly sharper than the Rick Baker mould in the US (that the eFX came from). I prefer it this way personally.

Thanks!

Why did Gino remove his post? Is it now a secret that the Y crease is the same on both moulds? Lol

Here's some more for you guys. Pretty much final, tusks may change a little (and the right one certainly needs to be a bit darker). I need to upgrade my membership before I can say anything in the junkyard though.

I'm no kind of Vader expert whatsoever, so if someone who presents as knowledgeable says the moulds differ I'm happy to take them at their word, and sharper details tend to be my preference. If there's actually no difference, so be it! Not an issue to me, I just want *a* Vader at some point, preferably the Star Wars version. You're selling them unfinished, right?

Guys, if you've followed my work, it's not about molds or this or that but capturing the essence and character beyond just a generic resemblance of Vader.

The paint job of this project is an essential and integral part of the artistic process because I wanted a much higher degree of accuracy than Darth Ugly. Whereas Darth Ugly gave me a chance to optimize a dome and faceplate to create an artistic whole (which is why I asked bookface not to part them out), in this case, this is a higher end project where - in addition to the sculpt - planning out the paint job required considerable discussion and testing because I wanted to take my art to the next level. And thus, I've asked bookface to only sell these painted - the sculpt and the paint are one artistic vision.

Darth Ugly, on the other hand, is available from bookface as an unpainted kit.

Ah well. Thanks anyway. (I really, really, really want to paint a Vader some time...will look up DU.)

PS mission achieved, from my (inexpert) POV. It looks fantastic. :thumbsup

Thats a really great paintjob. And i agree with Mac...the paintjob is the main point to get THE look of an authentic helmet. Bookface really has skills in finish such a helmet. Looks way more authentic than the thing eFX has sold as Legend. If i would have more space and money i would order one. Is there an estimate regarding the price Mac/Bookface?

Thanks, Niob!

All I can say is that this is a premium helmet, as opposed to Darth Ugly which is an entry level helmet. I'll defer to bookface to address pricing, as this is now his product and I'm not part of the financial picture.

I've yet to finalise pricing, but I'm looking at around the $700-750 mark. As with Darth Ugly, a portion of that will be given to the lady with disabilities that Mac has introduced me to. Mac has had very few requests for how I approached these projects (and bear in mind that he simply handed over his sculpts without any money changing hands and without asking for a penny of the proceeds from each sale, so I don't think they've been unreasonable!), and the main condition was that I continue to help this lady financially with each helmet sold, which I'm very happy to do.

Thank you all for your kind words, there's been a lot of effort and study put into trying to maximise the ANH look, but it seems to have paid off!
