Re: My Han in Carbonite completed

Thanks ZK. Together we can make it better ;)

Gyoung, I once thought exactly like you. I was filled with envy as I kept seeing these 1:1 carbonite blocks folk here had and didn't think I would ever own one. I had the front panel Han panel for a long time but did not have the means to build the block. Shipping one from the USA would just have been ridiculous.

It's only thanks to Vos for being the first (that I can recall) offering the complete block here in the UK that my dream finally came true.

Re: My Han in Carbonite completed

Finally added the two original vintage knurled knobs, attached to two rotary switches with set screws (thanks Sidewinder). I need to swap them around though (short one should be on the outside).

The outside switch acts as power on/off while the other one switches between the three ESB/RotJ light sequences.

Fabuloso!!

That is one amazing build Marcus. Better (and certainly more complete) than the real thing! :eek

Re: My Han in Carbonite completed

WOW Excellent build Kurtyboy.

And to think I owned a Volvo 343 and never knew that the dashboard was used for HIC until now. :confused

Re: My Han in Carbonite completed

Sorry I haven't following this thread. I used Halfords automotive spray paints, aluminium and Daewoo stone silver (I think). The blues on the hero panel are Humbrol 15 and 221.

Re: My Han in Carbonite completed

Finally I have some upgrades installed. I have added the missing small slotted screws to those panels that have them. You can see them along the top here:

Also new electronics to the hero panel including fully working screen accurate vintage gas discharge neon displays.

Thank you to Darth Chromer for all his help over the last few years.

Now, just a few more parts need to be identified before I'm 100% happy with them!

Amazing work Marcus. I've got a set of your clips and all of Glenn's greeblies and a set of his panels too. I've got my box built and my Stormrider han attached to it. Since it's winter where I am in Omaha I think I'm going to start building out my panels and get them ready to attach to the block after I paint it this spring. Really nice work on the panel below the hero panel with the yellow LEDs too. That's always been a confusing part of the panels for me. I was wondering if you have a pattern that you used to print on the transparent plastic screen that sits on top of the lens box. If so, would you mind sending me a copy of it? For my build I don't think I'm going to add functioning yellow LEDs to that area, but I might add some that sit there so it looks legit. Sorry if you've already discussed this before but I was wondering where you found the LEDs? I know they are a square type LED light. Keep up the amazing work man.

Search ebay for rectangular yellow LEDs and you should find a couple of sellers. PM me your email address.
