Thrawn is one of my favorite characters, and the biggest challenge in making the costume is his head. Blue face paint is a hassle to do, and red contacts only work if they cover the entire surface of the eye (which is painful and makes seeing difficult). So my thought was, what about doing a silicone mask? The other benefit is that you can also display it on a mannequin if you want to make a lifesize Thrawn. Instead of casting the silicone in flesh tones, cast it in blue, and then paint it with darker blue for the shadowing. The eyes are covered in power mesh, painted red. You could later put red LED lights inside the mask if you want the eyes to glow. The sculpt for the mask is The Handsome Guy by SPFX. What's great about silicone is you get full facial movement, when you talk the lips move etc. Here's a video of the Handsome Guy so you can see movement (not my video):
So the mask is finally finished (minus the LED's). I'll post more pictures once the uniform is finished.
