Nice! I'm glad you didn't go the route of sticking real world electronic bits in there. That bugs the heck out of me on cutaway or damaged sabers.

At the end the saber can be two sabers or the complete staff all the decoratives parts are stand alone unit so the owner can change at will:

Hot hydrochloric acid solution, good protections and good understanding of the process needed to achieve that effect without risks
