Five hundred to several thousand depending on the base gun.
Denix are the cheapest and most plentiful. That plus parts and someone to build it, maybe $500+?
Starting with an MGC replica, add a few hundred more.
Building off a genuine Mauser, add a couple thousand unless you find a good deal.
And if you want a genuine period scope add another $150-$300.
These are all ballpark figures based on my research in the last couple months. Others here are far more experienced in building this prop. Maybe they can give more accurate figures.

Carson did a great job detailing these parts. You can compare these pics to the HERO shots. Even the front end muzzle shot is correct. All that's left is the front sight (antenna/T Track) and the scope.
The barrel and booster came out very well I think.
The New Grill is near perfection.
I am working with the machinist to get the scope as real as possible including the ball knurls on the knob and the engraving.
We are also trying to do this all for a reasonable cost. Once we get the scope done, we can start to find out who is interested which will help define how to proceed.

I confirmed some information about the front sight...
The T-track is off center. The ridge leans towards the scope side of the gun (instead of pointing directly up). That's why you can't see the base of the T-track in the photo of the "mystery disk" side of the gun.
It's funny, but the whole bull barrel seems twisted. The set screw and top line of holes on the flash hider all lean to that side instead of directly at 12 o'clock.
Speaking of the disk, I measured my real pulley/Imperial disk and the base is .932" diameter. I was going to measure it earlier in the thread when requested, but my calipers died and I just got new batteries.

Do you think the barrel is twisted or just the FH? To me, the FH in most images is tilted up. In the top view this makes the barrel seem turned maybe more than it is because the rear in lower than the front should be, but it sure could be twisted as well. I'm not sure the barrel could or would be twisted just because the bottom flat would need to be even to disassemble and even the cast resin blasters show it fairly even.

I'm sure I read it previously, but I don't want to start back through the 52 pages. So, can you remind me of the plan for the scope? Completely hollow and see-thru, solid with machined out ends to add glass or something else? I'm thinking it was to be hollow, but not sure any more.
Interesting that the sight was not centered. I think on mine I'll still center it since the handful of people who would appreciate that level of accuracy is very small.

the scope is planned to be built like the real scope. Aluminum main tube (not steel as the real is) with brass end caps and knob and knob base with acrylic lenses and accurate reticle.
I may assemble a front sight and cast them after I see how it looks and what everyone thinks, just as an extra.

Just what I was thinking about the barrel greeblie too. Just curious, any photos in particular that you have that show the crooked track clearer? I've seen multiple hints in a few of the photos, but these are a couple of the clearer indicators that I can make out from the references, excluding that wonderful top-view photo.

I think it's just coincidence that the flash hider is rotated about the same amount as the sight. The bull barrel lines up pretty well where it meets the upper and it must be attached securely since this was a firing gun.

So I think it's agreed that the barrel is straight (had to be) and the FH is twisted and tilted up in many photos.
I think the Mystery disk size is fairly well pinned down at 24-25mm or 1 inch to make it easy.
I did correct my disk size and position and it looks pretty good now. I'll post later.
I did note that the chamfers do need to be tweaked to match the HERO and we will need to adjust our models to match but it will be close enough so you wont have to unless you want to.

The extra amount of exposed barrel may be due to the FH, is that the latest version of the FH in the photos? The inside did require some slight adjustment in the last revision, such as the inside depth and areas involving the booster's fit. :thumbsup

that's the latest FH. I need to check where the booster is sitting, may not be going in far enough. We did not put the set screw hole in yet either.
That Grill really looks great now. The contours and profiles really make a difference in the overall look.
