Star lord helmet

Okay so as my first project on the RPF I wanted to make the star lord helmet as the new GOTG movie is coming out soon and also because from what i have seen it seems that star lord is a pretty awesome character . This build will be freehand and i am going to try and make the helmet out of foam but if there are any other suggestions for materials to use on this project i will be happy to here them and take them into consideration :D

i have made a start . i have made the eye circles out of PVC pipe . I need to sand it and make it look a bit smoother though DSCF0165.JPG

IMG_0216.jpg I have made some progress in the way that i have made the basic facial part of the helmet. i just need to add the detail now . and then I can begin to make the back and sides of the helmet.

Kudos for freehanding this. But I say you should redo the mouth piece, since it´s not very symmetrical. If you get that central piece right, it may help you get away with other potential inaccuracies that may come from doing things freehand.

Thanks tauriice i think its probably best if i do look into doing the helmet in pepakura , I didnt know how challenging freehand could be haha :wacko

IMG_0220.jpgIMG_0219.jpgIMG_0221.jpgIMG_0222.jpg Okay so ive basically started again with the helmet but using a pepakura file this time and I think its turning out better than my first attempt , i would like to thank the RPF member Helagak for making the pep file for the star lord helmet aswell. overall I am happy with it so far but one thing I am unsure how to do is the eyes of the helmet. If any one has any suggestions on how to help me and what to use for the eye parts of the helmet I would be very grateful. P.S the part of the eyes i am having trouble with are mostly the parts that stick out of the helmet, the outer part of the eye. thankyou

I've seen someone that used sections of PVC pipe, which I'm possibly considering for my own build (when it gets to that point!).

IMG_0233.jpgIve managed to create the eyes by cutting 2 circles from a plastic cola bottle , inserting them into the PVC eyeholes and then putting red mesh over the 2 eye circles to give the red effect.

That looks great. Im working on a Star Lord outfit for the midnight premiere soon, How did you set up the lights on the inside?

IMG_0248.jpg I first make the circuit involving the red LED light strip then glue it onto the inner part of the eyehole .

IMG_0249.jpg I place the battery for the circuit inside the ear psrt of the helmet , i secure the battery using a piece of scrap foam , this way the battery does not dig into my head when I wear the helmet . Once you plug the circuit into the battery the lights will come on. Hope this helps :)
