New Avengers IM Droid Pep File

Thought I'd give the poor droid from the new Avengers trailer a pepakura home...
darkside501st generously gave me permission to use one of his low poly Iron Man files as a base to start the model on, which made my life as an amateur modeler so much easier...

The file is still a work in progress, but here's what I've got so far...

Also... the droid file makes for easy conversion to the damaged Ultron helmet used in the same scene... this picture is just a quick idea of what it'll look like, so it's not accurate at all. I'll do the actual model once I've complete the droid model.

Yeah, I'll ask one of the guys to help with a foam unfold as well... honestly I think the damaged Ultron helmet will be best built using a foam template...

Thanks Tom, your Ultron build actually played a big part in my decision to try get a pep model done, I loved the helmet, but I suck at free hand / scratch building... so this is the route I have to go...

Not really sure what to do about the hollow section at the back of the helmet. I've sealed it off for now... but it'll have to change once a reference shot of the back end becomes available.

Hey Bandiet, Great work ! I'm currently moddeling the same helmet, but in hi-poly and 3D print ready, it's not always easy given the few references and off angles of them, but I truly don't think there is a triangle shape on the forehead "groove thing". I've studied the pics a lot as you did too I suppose, and there is only one where the triangle appears, which makes me believe it's actually a weird reflection, anyway keep going :thumbsup

Thanks Teragon, that little triangle has had me going nuts... my eye for detail is not the greatest as it is, so reflections and shadows really play mind tricks on me.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction... I really appreciate it.

Honestly, I didn't believe you at first. But, looking at the three pics I posted above, I see what you mean. In the middle pic, there's no reflection. Weird how it reflects so strong on the full front pic.
 
Plus the zombified Ultron one doesn't have it neither and is the same base, so that's why I'm also pretty convinced it's a reflection. Tough call about the back too ! I'm doing mostly for the Ultron one, so personally I'll leave it open, but it could go either way.
