Mark 43 pic heavy (low budget) (WIP)

Hello everyone,

I planned to do an iron man suit for a long time now. So I finally started on the mark 43.

This is a low budget built. That's why I'm using cardboard and bondo for most of the suit.
I still want to do the helmet out of fiberglass though.
And for the soles of the shoes I'm going to use Wood.

I want the suit to fit perfectly so I'm doing all the templates by myself.
Except for the helmet, which is made by gimpee.

Here is my current progress on the back and on the helmet:

Update!

part of the back is glued together. I'm now going for the lower backpart (not the part connected to the abs)

I put some more cardboard here to get a clear "cut" between the parts

Where did you get the files?! I have been searching everywhere for them so that I might be able to get it done by the premier.

Re: Mark 43 Low Budget, First Time

I knew I would make it with cardboard so I only cut the parts on edges or borders. I tried to separate the parts without having to bend them later

Building my red neck!

So I modeled and cut the neck. I made it movable so it will turn when I turn my head. I still have to put some Velcro on the sides where its going to open. But until then its fixed with tape. have fun!

Ok so i finished the chestplate and now i will make my way downwards to the abs.

here I made the missing parts on the sides with a lot of detail. so I used layering to get at least some detail.

Update!

So I made the abs (more or less).
I'm still not happy with them so I think I will redo a part of it. I'm now working on the arms. Anyway here are some pics:

A lot of time passed since I made my last update. Well I had a lot of work to do for school and I'm making my driving license but now I found some time to work on it again. I hope I will be finished until May 2015.

I noticed that I didn't say what I'm actually focusing on in this build. Well, here are some things I'm trying to accomplish:

- No gaps (elbow, knee, neck, shoulder, hands, whip and feet)
- great mobility ( a lot of mechanisms)
- a good form (no bubble head iron man, no flat chest, no oversized chest and no flat abs)

I did the forearm. But I will most likely cover it up with putty because it looks kind of rough and the rocket holder is a bit flat.

And I mentioned that I wasn't quite happy with the abs. Well, I finally redid them and connected them with rubber bands. They will be hold between the cod piece and the torso, so there will be always some tension to hold them in place.
Thats how they look without any tension:

And here you can see how I compress them and stretch them.

I will add some rubber bands on the back too, so they will stay in shape.

So I made the shoulder and I just assembled it really quick. I have to say, the proportions look pretty neat to me. :D What do you think guys?
