So I decided to give the low poly pep files a test and It turned out great so I think I'm going to continue and finish a mark 5 suit that I've been wanting to do for so long. :D

Thanks to Balmung for the 3d model. Here is my version of the unfold: Mark 5 The scale is for a 6' to 6'3" person. Also, I didn't bother doing the helmet or hands/fingers, and keep in mind it may not be perfect. The foam templates are all the left side of the suit, except for the legs/cod are on the right side, so you kinda have to work with it once you get to the cod/abs point. If that makes any sense at all.

I started with a basic unfold of the shoulder piece.

I'll post more updates as I go.

I also have a question for foam builders. How do you seal or get rid of unwanted cut lines without using plastic/bondo? Does liquid plasti dip work to cover them?

Re: Iron Man Mark 5 WIP [Game Model]

How do you go about unfolding the files? I've been dying to make the Mk. V for years, but I can't seem to wrap my head around unfolding. :confused

Re: Iron Man Mark 5 WIP [Game Model]

How do you go about unfolding the files?

Open the model file using pepakura. Click the unfold button. Then remove the flaps in the 2D drop down menu. From there just edit the files using the join/disjoin tool.

I scaled the entire suit to my height which is 6'3" about 1900 mm tall

I'll probably upload my unfold of the suit tomorrow.

First, be sure to find a registration key online to register the program so you can save.

Open the model file using pepakura. Click the unfold button. Then remove the flaps in the 2D drop down menu. From there just edit the files using the join/disjoin tool.

Just be careful of talking about illegally obtaining a software license that you should be paying for.

I'll admit my work is not the cleanest, but I'm okay with it.

Pep files can be found on Balmungs thread http://www.therpf.com/f24/iron-man-3-armors-3d-models-release-reference-foundation-183705/

didnt find the pep files for this...

Re: Iron Man Mark 5 FOAM WIP [Game Model]

- open the .obj file of the armor you want in pepakura designer
- press ok couple of times and set the adjustments for the model (front, bottom, etc)
- press unfold
- set scale parameters
- from "2d-menu" disable show flaps
- have fun with the join/disjoin face option :)

Re: Iron Man Mark 5 FOAM WIP [Game Model]

Damn that looks gorgeous! Try to sand the excess dried glue for a cleaner finish. Other than that I can't say anything more to make it better than it is now!

the mark 5 is in his bundle its not in .pdo format its .obj, you have to open it with pepakura and unfold it yourself until I or someone else releases and official unfolded .pdo file.

EDIT: I uploaded my file

Idk if sanding glue will work, I'd be afraid of tarring the foam.

How did you measure your height? Was it in inches or in cm converted into mm

I converted my height in inches to mm and used that as the height for the suits scale since it is all one piece from head to toe.

Re: Iron Man Mark 5 FOAM WIP + Unfolded Files!

SUBSCRIBED! Looking forward to seeing this complete! Don't think I've ever seen a full foam Mk 5 pepped! Was planning to do the same but you beat me to the punch. Suppose I gotta start on Igor then!

Yeah I'm excited about this build. All i have left are the legs/feet/ and hands. I ran out of foam though so I'll have to wait till I get paid :/

Anyways the entire upper body(excluding the neck and forearms) is one entire piece now that Is split down the back making it easily to slip on. It's so cool! :thumbsup
