    THIS IS THE BUILT THREAD!

    Hey folks,

dupes4real brought me on the idea to make an Iron Man Arm wich works as a desk lamp like this.

this is an arm wich Sérgio Oliveira did

BUT i will make them different, not as Sergio Oliveira did his.

I will make the Mark 8 and Patriot arm as a desk lamp,
to the occasion of the new Iron Man 3 movie, wich will come next month!

It will be about 45 cm high (18 inches) and WILL NOT have this damaged look.
It will run on batteries and also on plug.
There will be a 3-way-switch (Batterie - OFF - Plug)
and also a rotary switch for controling the brightness of the lamp.

How far I came with it already: (status of 14. april 2013)
    Spoiler:

*I used helagakīs 3D Model for M8 Arm.
and for the Patriot i used jackieisrockinīs files.
For the hand I used the M6 file, but i canīt remember where I get it from.

I only modified the files in their size and angle
and I made mods for them for easier assemble.
Only the elbow-parts are modelled by myself.

Your gonna use clay to smooth it out?

    Not at all, but yes.

I mean that air dry clay, wich gets hard after 24 hours.
Its VERY easy to sand down, thats because i use it.

But I also will use polyester filler.

    I made the hand parts:

Then I filled the glove with clay, paper and glue:

And this is the pose of the Hand:

    -------------------------------------------------
    EDIT:

I glued the paper parts on to the filled glove:

Then i hold it over the Mark 8 underarm, to see how it looks together:

    And over the Patriot underarm:

    EDIT 2 :

Coming along nicely! I thought about making an Arc Reactor lamp along the same lines after seeing how bright my first one lit up.

I made the Basic smoothing with Fimo air-drying clay on Mark 8 Underarm and Elbow part. (because its VERY easy to sand)

For the people who wonder why there arenīt any lines on the underarm, i will carve them in later on, after the sanding.

    So here it is:
I spend 900g clay on this

I will cover the Patriot with clay tomorrow and the Plates and Hand, too!

PS. and donīt forget *here* you can register as interested for one, when it is finished!

Now i clayed the Patriot underarm + elbow-part + handplate

Now I only need to clay up the handplate for Mark 8 and the Hand.

The handplate will be very easy, BUT the hand, the hand will be the most pain in the ass on the whole earth to clay up.

But Iīm realy glad to have this behind me!
So here is what Ive got now

I sanded the M8 Underarm a little bit, thats why it looks smoother than Patriot.

I primed it and then draw the lines on to it
Next step is carving these lines

    EDIT:
    I carved it the lines.

I have very much black acrylic paint and decided to seal all the micro holes with it.
While painting it, I was wonder how it would look like when I paint all the golden parts white
and all the red parts in black, so see yourself:

    I think I will offer a Black&White version, too.
    What do you think?
And donīt wonder because it looks like s*** atm, I promise it will turn out awesome, when itīs finished.

I worked a little bit on the Patriot aswell:

Here is how both look together at the moment:
