This is my very first time posting on these forums (obviously) and I have finally made the plunge to try to complete an Ironman MK 4 suit by the time Halloween rolls around. I have been lurking these forums for awhile seeking advice, tips, answers to questions, etc. and have been pleasantly surprised.
I have watched multiple youtube videos as well from many different people and learned a ton of techniques. Now, I have finally decided to start buying the materials and get started. Since this is my first time working with foam (I have used pepakura before, but had little success) I decided to use an "easier" method found here:
For me, these templates look very easy to follow. But, my major concern that I have found very little on is how to scale it to my body. I am 5'10 around 165 - 170 pounds pretty muscular v-shaped build. I have noticed people say I should measure each piece of my body for each individual file, such as measuring the height of my head, width of it, and then depth - once that is done, convert to MM and scale. But, my question is, should I add a mm or two to actually be able to fit in it?
I know this question has probably been asked a lot, but it is one of the reasons I gave up last Halloween on an iron man costume since I built 2 pepakura helmets and each one didnt fit (which took about 8 hours each helmet just to build it out of paper)
Also, last question, should I go with the "easier" pepakura mk 4 suit mentioned above, or should I try this one, which was posted by Stealth:
Any tips are much appreciated since I would love to get started on this thing as soon as possible!
