mmm ... I need some help.
I’m trying to scale the arm with THIS file of yours
o6ebub.jpg

How should I proceed?, I mean, I can’t use nor my actual Height, Width or Depth because the pieces here are out of phase.

Help!!!

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

I would print out one piece at a time. Easier to scale that way, instead of importing the entire arm into the designer

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Ok, this thing is totally awesome, and I've had a blast putting it together. I have a weird zen/patience thing where when I get into the zone of cutting and gluing, I work like crazy and have no idea how long I've been working on it until I look at the clock. It's so much fun!

I do have a question, though...can someone explain to me how the abs are supposed to go together? I see the abs file, which when you look at it, has three pieces grouped together and four pieces grouped together. Then there's the side abs file, which has 3 pieces and then two pieces sort of grouped together. I know that the side abs pieces will need to be flipped for the other side, but it still seems like pieces are missing, and that the front abs have too many pieces. Can someone explain it to this dummy?

As soon as I have some more significant work done (and the northeast thaws so that I can get out side and start skinning it) I'll get some pictures up here! Thanks again to this awesome forum!

The way the screenshot shows is actually one file. When dancinfool made the final files the arm is now an all in one just like you see.

But, surreal is right. The best thing to do is focus on one part. Use the point to point tool to measure the bicep section from armpit to elbow and them measure your own arm the same. Scale the part until it fits and print it but just assemble the bicep itself. If you need to redo it you won't have to do it all. If the bicep fits you can scale the rest to match, the forearm has some adjustment built in. You should get something like this:

Feel free to pm me of you want more detailed help scaling.

Thankyou all for you quick responses.

:confused the point to point ... what?
I' ve heard something 'bout this tool, but I never found it.
WHERE is it and HOW can I use it.
Tell me more master.

[Well, I guess this question is a little inappropriate for this section of the forum now.]

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

go to the 2d menu then hit edit and click the one that says measure distance between points, if you actually searched its hard to believe you didn't find it...

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

You can also right click in the 2D window and select "Measure Distance Between Two Points". Makes it a little quicker :D

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Is there a link to the Iron Man helmet pepakura to print out in A4, and not the American letter version?

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Just go in Print and Paper Settings, and select A4 instead of Letter...

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Aw yeah! gotta dl these awesome files! soon as i finish my classic red gold

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Ok, three questions here:

1: Could somebody please link me to a file that is in the European A4 size? I love this suit but I think that the letter version would print out wrong..

2: And...if it is possible, to print out these files without using the Pepakura viewer?

3: Is it possible to print out just a single page, not the whole template? If I screw up one piece..

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

hi, first time trying to build iron man suit here. i downloaded the final zip file and the helmet file cause the helmet is not inside the final zip file. i have a question here, for example the arm in the file is left side, to print right side, do i just press mirror invertion in pepakura?

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Yes, just press invert pattern (in 2D menu) , or in new pepakura, you can invert 3D and 2D pattern (in toolbar go to other)

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

what i did for my scaling was i measured point to point on the chest. i used a flat tap measure used for making cloths, and measured my chest. then i used the measurements from the tape measure and converted that into millimeters and put that height or width into the the appropriate box in the scaling box in the 2d menu. I adjusted it to fix me tight, then added 10% for electronics to fit. Once i did that and got a scale factor number, i used that on the entire suit for all the parts except for the hand, fingers, and helmet. Those are a little different. i did a lot of trial and error to get those right.

you could also scale groups of parts together if you wanted to. as long as they are the same area of parts on your body. For instance, you can scale the bicep, forearm, and elbow together, or the thigh and shin. Parts like that can be scaled together while other parts are at a different scale. it all comes down to how you want your armor to fit, and if you want it to look like a uniform scale or not.

don't forget to take into account the thickness of your foam. I did not even think of that until i was almost done with mine. if you are using a thicker foam, your scale is gong to be bigger and if you used thinner foam the scale will be more fitted to you. You don't want to use thick foam any way, i messed up trying to use 3/8 on everything because at the time that was all i could find. 1/4 inch will be plenty big for main parts, and just use 1/8 on detail pieces and fingers. At least that's what i do.

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

still confused on how to scale dancin_fool mark 3 pep... how do i get 6feet and 6 inches total height?? also if i scale dancin_fool files, can i still use the scale for the other parts like helmet and boots??

tried to realign each part and then i'll export this to pep design, i dunno if this would work @_@

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Hey Everyone,

I decided it was about time I started my own thread on here with all my progress and updates for my Mk III Iron Man files. For anyone who doesn't know me I started work last year on a set of Iron Man pep files, I made it about half way through and then had to take a break to work on my Halloween wedding.

The wedding was a big success we dressed up as Disneys Beauty and the Beast, we had many Disney nods in our wedding design and wedding party costumes as well as a large haunted house with many nods to the Disneyland haunted house.

Now that the wedding is finished I've started up work again on the Iron Man files. I'm not going to post any new files until I've finished up the abs and finished tweaking the rest of the files to work perfectly with the abs.

In the mean time I'll leave some renders of the current suits progress and leave links to the older files in the subsequent post.

Update
******

Here's a link to the final zip file containing all of the pep files for my Iron Man Mark 3.

IronManMk3_Final.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

I downloaded this project and for the helmet I downloaded Sharkmark VI - Iron Man - Helmet - Unfolded by Dubean33 .... I want to know what is the correct ratio, to fix the scale. thanks

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Is there a tutorial on scaling somewhere. I am having a hard time scaling as well.

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep Files - Finally Completed

Hey all, new to the forum and the whole pepakura build thing. Got myself both viewer and designer. All I need now is someone who can give a basic tutorial. I have no files, but am looking to build 2 suits. First, the Mark3 then the Mark7. I saw the link to the finalzip for the Mark3. It took me to a page where you can download all files at once, and when I click on it, it asks for a monthly 9 $$ fee. Is this normal? NOT a computer guy, just wanna make sure I'm not buying some software thing that I don't need. Already got the reader for it. Definitely don't mind paying for the design, have been met with a lot of incomplete files and getting frustrated. Don't know how to scale these things or ANYTHING. Again, anyone willing to give me a 1,2,3, step process would be forever grateful. I have read pieces of info on forums, but they don't start at the beginning, it's just bits and pieces of peoples issues. Please feel free to do a private message so I don't get confused looking through all the other forum info. (SERIOUSLY) I am a dummy on the computer. Thanks in advance for any help.
