Comic Groot with movie head WIP GOTG

I started building the movie version of Groot and have completed the head. I used EVA foam and a Dremel to shape the foam. As I progress I have decided that a morph suit covered with bark will not be the most practical suit for me. I now think I will build a Groot suit that is based more on the comics with the blue outfit and the multi pouch belt. I will keep you posted.

Here is a few shots of my EVA foam arms. I left the forearms open so I can still have some use of my hands.

I have also started a Star Lord mask for my son. The base is a Iron Patriot mask and foam.

I have started on my first Groot foot made from foam and have applied the base paint.


The Star Lord mask is moving along. This may be the final look since my kid will be wearing it.


Hear is Star Lords blaster and one for Rocket. Star Lords is a repaint of his Nerf Gun and Rockets is some light up gun found at Wal-Mart.

I think it looks great-love the idea of following the comic book version! your starlord mask looks awesome too!.
love how you made groots hands-I may have to borrow some of that idea!
looking forward to seeing more of your build.

This is what I have so far. I still need to do a lot of paint and adjust the mask. Next up, the uniform.

Here is Star Lord Jr., the jacket came from the Thrift store and I shortened the sleeves and spray painted it.
