Big Muscly Character Base for Hulk/Thanos/The Thing

i don't think i've mentioned this yet
but i will be building the hulk from avengers age of ultron
so its basically the 2012 avengers version but he has some stylish purple spandex pants
so yeah

Sorry there hasn't been an update lately
i haven't had the time to buy more thick foam
I figured that I might aswell start printing and cutting the cod plate files
I'm going to use a lighter density foam that I already bought last week
The thinner softer foam will provide comfort and flexibility to the suit
With the left over scraps ill use some of them for padding inside the suit to stop the thicker pieces rubbing on my skin and to keep them from moving around too much
So that's about it for this small uupdate
any comments criticism or feedback is appreciated!
thanks guys

ANOTHER UPDATE!
I finished up on the cod/butt/waist piece this weekend
i used the low density foam I talked about in the last post
I'm pretty happy with the turn out
i ended up putting an extra three strips of foam on the inside of the waist for extra comfort
I also left off the thick belt piece around the waist as I'm not sure if the chest will fit on my body and stay proportionate
Today I printed and cut out all the templates for the chest
as the chest was scaled up I had to print 32 pieces of paper
From the looks of things it's gonna be big!
At the moment whenever I put on the suit It looks a lot tubbier than muscly
hopefully the inclusion if the chest pulls it all together and helps it take shape
once I finish the chest I can finally start to work on the skin!
it's coming together really well and I'm looking forward to pulling off this costume
thanks guys

I cut out all the pieces for the chest
now all I have to do is assemble them (pun intended)
new update should be up tonight
thanks guys!

HUGE UPDATE!
I glued together the chest and now I'm finished the base!
I tried the suit on and the proportions are great
I might trim the bottom of the torso/chest piece so it doesn't sit too high around my chin
at the back I left the hole that was already there instead of filling it in so i can mount a fan back there
as it gets pretty hot inside the suit
I'm moving on to the skins and finishing the feet in the coming weeks
not much else I can say
this costume is coming out way better than I thought it would
thanks guys!

not really an update
i recently was looking at the suit thinking of all the characters i can make
then i realised i left off one
a bit of a minor character
20130808091343

Kronan from thor the dark world
i mean i could easily adapt the thing to Kronan afterwards
or i could completly start from scratch
just an idea i had
more updates on the suit will be coming in the next few days
thanks guys

I bought some spray foam and got to work on my second hulk foot
I'm pretty happy with the turn out and I think I matched to the first one as best as I could
A minor thing that happened was the foam expanding so much that it made a hump on the bottom of the foot
The toes lift off the ground more than the other foot but I'm not too worried for now
i have also been looking at my hulk mask and I'm not really happy with it
To me it doesn't really look like the Ruffalo hulk
i bought a cheap plastic hulk mask when I started my first hulk suit
I ended up buying the newer latex one to replace it but now I look at it I see it bears a better resemblance to the avengers hulk than the latex one
it doesn't really cover the whole head as its secured with an elestic strap
i was thinking of repurposing an unfinished batman vs superman batman cowl I made to cover my head and to fill in the neck area
of course ill have to cut the ears off and cut a hole in the face
The idea is that I'll secure the plastic mask on to the cowl using Velcro or magnets for easy removal and interchangeability
this way I can use other masks and keep the head and neck shape
I won't be doing this for all the heads as there are some good looking latex masks on the Internet that already have the head and neck built in
That's about all the new information I have
Thanks guys!

i mocked up a few diagrams to show what i meant in the last post
first i take the batman vs superman batman cowl (cut off the ears) and the avengers movie hulk mask (plastic)
trjtj.JPG
then attach mask to cowl via magnets or velcro
Capture.JPG
then attach wig to head via magnets or velcro
b jcv.JPG
this can be used for other characters too
Capture.JPG
that's about it
it's all just an idea at the moment
i think it'll work haha
thanks guys

Hey guys
i haven't been able to do much with the suit lately
But today I went out and bought myself some age of ultron hulk hands
They're pretty damn awesome
I figured I might as well buy them seeing as though you can open and close the hands now and the thumbs can move
They're a darker shade of green compared to my hulk fists so ill probably have to paint them
The aim is to have interchangeable hands so I can swap them out for the other set
this way I can have a closed fist on my left so I can punch stuff and a posable hand on my right so I can grab stuff
My only issue is that I'll have to trim down the forearm so my hands can fit fully inside the hulk hands
I've been pretty flat out with assessments all week so I haven't had many updates
I'll try to seal the feet on Sunday if I have time
Any questions or concerns feel free to ask!
thanks guys!

Hey man, i was just curious as to what you were thinking about for the skins you have mentioned.
Well at the moment its all theory and i am not to sure if it will work
but the idea is that i'm going to start off using a flexible material such as lycra or spandex and create sleeves for the pieces
Capture.JPG
the material will attach to the foam using velcro tabs (which will be sewn onto the material and glued onto the foam)
tgv5yh.JPG
At the moment ive been tossing around the idea of either dyeing the material or painting with fabric paint
i was also thinking of using pva glue or plasti dip to give the material a rubbery feel like skin but i dont think that will work without hardening the material
once ive been making skins for a while i want to move onto using different techniques and start using materials such as latex and silicon
i also want to try and use an airbrush in the future to paint the suits as i think it would help to detail the skins and pieces
i hope this was clear enough and that i answered your question

also sorry for no update on Sunday i've been pretty swamped with school work
ill try to post updates over the coming weeks

not really a proper update but anyway...
A poster for the new Fantastic 4 movie was released
it shows the things face pretty well
Thing-Fantastic-Four-Instagram.jpg
it kind of resembles the leaked set photo
im not too sure if its the same or not
it might just be a different angle
The Thing.jpg
either way i still like it haha
also i am sorry that there has been no build updates
ive recently been doing a lot of assessments for school and on top of that i have fallen sick and haven't been feeling up to doing much work on the suit
i really want to get back into it but i really havent had the time.
thanks guys
