I would take a couple rulers and measure from the top of your head to your chin and then size the shell accordingly.

one last thing u dont have to be his asking me if u could well heres what he said the mask has an extremely high poly count which makes it difficult to slice into Gcode. So if you know the person who modeled this ask them to
export an STL with less than 5000 polygons. If not it's not a huge deal it would just get me able to print faster. :) :)

I can't reduce the polycount at this time, but I did reduce the model to my head size...
I measured my chin to top of head as 10", so I sized the model to 10.25". (26mm) This made the model much smaller. I got an idea for eye frame cost on shapeways and they were 18 bucks for the pair.

26cm Face Shell and Lenses:

I CAN cut the face shell in half if that will help.

Cutting it in half should help. I had the same problem with another model, and cutting it in half helped out a good bit.

You are the "Slice-Master"!

What would you recommend... slicing in half vertically or horizontally?
Slicing in y means dealing with those vent holes and slicing in x means aligning the eye holes... recommendations?

hey i got an email back from shapeways they canceled my order till i fix this issue with both shooters......."
Here are some details to help

  • We've credited $22.98 to your account
  • You may be able to update and print your models based on the information below.
you resolve this issue:

  • Reason: Thin Walls
  • Description: The minimum wall thickness for this material is 0.7mm. Once you thicken the walls, we can print your model without it breaking. If you really do want these details so thin, you could choose another material that has a smaller minimum requirement.Find additional information in the attached image.

will that make them bulky looking?
what do i do to change the thickness?
  • just gonna let shapeways auto fix it ... i guess...

If you can wait til later this afternoon, I will take a look at them.

I'd slice across the eyes, and avoid the vent holes.

Thanks!

Well, you were the guinea pig. I looked into it and the only thin area was the back where the web fluid cartridge goes in...(see pic) It was quite thin so I just made the cartridge and the shooter all one piece. It should work fine, but if you have further problems I'm sorry to say you're on you're own. Good luck!

I will update the files on the first page.

I just came from the thread where members here were throwing barbs after you pointed out these prints should be free. They challenged you to create your own print and see if you still feel it should be free...and you did it...and it is. Respect.

I have a fix for the Shapeways issue. theese are scaled at 54.9 mm across and fixes the thin wall issues.

I don't understand how that would fix it, but then again I am no expert when it comes to shapeways and the reasons why things may or may not print with them.
There was a really thin part on the model which I repaired, but hey whatever works.

Thanks for sharing your solution!

Oh, I thought you meant ASM. The ASM2 pattern is finished and a link is in the first post with all the other files.

Lol that's my bad. I should have put the 2 in there. One more question Ken. Is the back piece of the pattern in 2 separate pieces? Trying to avoid having that line going down on my back for when I sew. Trying to get the suit sewed in a U shaped. Where it goes from one down to the other.
