My Masked Rider "Man of Steel" suit thread/review

I had the extreme pleasure of getting one of Leslee's Man of Steel suits yesterday. I have all the individual armor pieces as well as the full suit, cape, etc... I'm doing some travelling currently so I'm not available to do much more this week. But by Sunday, I plan to put most of this suit together and I'll be posting up my review... close-ups, etc. If anyone has any pic requests or questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

As stated earlier, I received the shipment of all the individual pieces yesterday and had to immediately try on the blue suit. The blue suit is actually sewn over a (subtle) silver dyesub suit created by my good friend and collaborator, Brulafu Disguises. (www.facebook.com/BrulafuDisguises). He created the subtle muscle shading on the silver suit to mimic the muscle suit used for the film suits.

Later last night, after getting the kids to bed, I tried on a few more pieces.. I apologize for the lighting in this room, it really cranks up the blue color. The fabric isnt this vibrant. It's more accurate in the suit pic above. On the left side of the photos, is the suit without use of a camera flash. And on the right is when a flash is in use:

Here are a couple of more:

Folks, the quality of this suit and armor pieces are stellar. As someone who actually owned an Eldonatty suit...or whatever you want to call that 'project', Masked Rider's suit is off the charts great... you will not be disappointed. I will do my best to archive the steps we use to put this suit together so you all can keep track.

Feel free to comment on anything you see here. The suit (the blue oversuit) does need to be tightened up at the abs, behind the needs, and just under the calves to get a better form fitting...so we're addresing those issues at the moment. In the meantime, enjoy, and if you had any reservations about ordering this suit, DONT!

Looks really good! One minor quibble: The boots look too short. They should go closer to the knee. Also the length of the boot in the front and the length in the back seems like too much of a dip. The boot should cover most of the calf based on the display. Was this boot based on your measurement for it?

Has that S emblem been shaded? It's hard to tell from the pics.

Can you tell me if the dark areas of the muscle-shaded suit are black or dark gray? I'm curious if using a slightly lighter dark color would make the "separation" of muscles a bit less apparent in flash shots.

How well does it stretch?

Mydlyfe- Yup, the boot was based on the measurement I gave Leslee. I had my wife take the measurement for me, so for all I know, we did measure quite far enough. Doesnt bother me in the slightest though.

Yes, the "S" emblem is indeed shaded. I'll try and post some better pics for you

The dark areas on the undersuit are indeed black. There is some gradient between the silver and black, but the flash on my wife's camera is pretty harsh and can wash it out some.

I am so excited to get this.
Great work Leslee.

How stretchy is the suit?

Chris

Thanks, guys... with Bruce's undersuit and Leslee's blue suit, its a thicker suit overall but I didnt sense any kind of limitations of stretch. I'll take more photos tonight of me kneeling down, etc and post them up

That looks great.

For me, this was a trial for the undersuit and is come out great. I'm going to do a newer version which smoothes out the muscle effect.
On the original suit, it was very black and silver, but I think the mesh must have been a little thicker.

Anyway, I'll post pics of the revised muscle suits and offer up a run when I get samples done.

Just a few quick questions: How durable are the urethane pieces? I know you haven't glued them on yet, but do you think you'll be able to sit and move comfortably without them coming off? The only reason I didn't jump on masked rider's run was that I thought the pieces might be similar to the urethane webbing on a spidey suit - beautiful but needing constant upkeep.

Any updates? Or did you ship it to Masked Rider to adjust? Do you know what kind of glue you'll use to place the armor pieces on? Would also like to know if you had to cut some of them to fit right and how hard/easy it is!

Sorry, guys..not neglecting the thread but I went ahead and shipped the suit back to get it altered. They should have it by Wed and hopefully I'll have it back within the next week.

I will post up pics of the armored pieces tonight to give everyone a good look at them

I'll probably use super-glue gel for the urethane pieces as I've had a ton of success with it in the past.
