The Dark Knight Returns/Batman v Superman Armor WIP

Hi guys,
It's been a while, but I am back and have started a new build!
I love the animated movie, the Dark Knight Returns Part 2, especially because of the bad ass fight between Batman and Supes in the end! With the new Batman v Superman movie coming out, and with fan expo 2014 right around the corner, I have started to build foam armor based on these movies.

Here is what I have done so far...

I have only finished half of the chest plate. For my first freehand foam build, it looks pretty good IMO.

Any feedback or comments are appreciated!

Hey guys!
I just finished the torso today! And I think it looks pretty awesome!
What do you guys think? (Sorry for the crappy ipod pics)

The back is being held together with Velcro straps as shown below

I'm happy to see more Dark Knight Returns cosplays popping up lately. This is looking great.

More progress on the chest!
Finished the ab plate of the chest! Looks awesome!

I am thinking about adding a bat symbol on the chest, maybe the BvS symbol, to make the armor look less plain. Do you guys think I should?

Definitely. As much as I like the DKR, the original armored suit from the comics looks a bit too much like a cheap action figure to me. Needs some details, a little pizazz.

Couldn't have agreed more! It is actually why i split the chest into two sections.

Does anyone who has seen the sdcc teaser for Batman v Superman know whether or not the logo is on Batman's armor?
Thanks!

Awesome build so far. Keep up the good work! BTW, how are you going to approach the helmet/mask? I am also working on this same build for Dragon Con. I hope I can get it finished.

I started on basically the same thing about a week or so ago, my first time attempting to make foam armor. Instead of doing the comic/cartoon where it's part armor part cloth (implied to be covering the mechanics underneath that gives him strength) I decided to try to make everything that covers my body armored, still trying to figure it all out.

You should definitely keep me posted in what you're doing for the helmet, I've had some ideas, but nothing solid.

Great build. I've been waiting for someone to do a build on the teaser. ;)
I was actually thinking of helping a friend build his Mr. Freeze armor from TAS in a similar fashion. Can you tell me what type and thickness of foam you used? Did you just bend it into the chest plate shape?

Hey!
In order to do the chest plate I first made a cardboard mock-up of half of the front part of the chest, just to get an understanding of the size and shape of the chest.
The front template looked similar to this (not the actual thing, just used as an example)

Then, I traced the template onto the foam and formed it to the shape of my body with a blow-dryer on its highest setting.

The process is basically the same for both halves of the front and back.

I hope it helped and didn't sound too confusing!

Hello everyone!
It's been a while since I last posted! I have been very busy for a while, but I have returned with some images of my brother wearing the armor in its current state! He's having a lot of fun in it...

I am not so sure if I can finish it for fan expo. If I can't I will just continue building it for another event/con.

What do you guys think?
