Arkham Origins Batman suit build

As soon as the first pics of the Origins suit surfaced I loved the look and jumped on it. Cowl was the first thing done based on very limited reference.

Next up was the fierce looking gauntlets. 3D model was commissioned and then printed in house. Incredible amount of finish work (prime, fill, sand, prime, fill, fill, sand, prime) was necessary to get them to this point. All worth it. ;)

By this point the game was out and the reference necessary to 3D model the remaining pieces was available.

So was time to get the printer working double time. And to invest in a few cans of Bondo. ;)

Belt pieces were printed next. There are just 2 different compartments on the belt.

And with the buckle of course.

Now the pieces are getting larger. Means splitting items into smaller pieces that will fit on the 3D printer build plate. Which in turn means joining those pieces, filling the seams, priming, sanding. Lots of finish work to get to here..

Looking fantastic ! I would just make the body armour pieces a tad bit thicker, especially the biceps/triceps plates.
I'm going to need those shin guards too by the way :D

Thanks, my friend. What do you mean by a tad bit thicker? Thicker than they are on the model?

yep, on the 3D model pics, they look a bit flatter than in almost all reference pics I used for my suit. Although I don't have access to the game files, so I may be wrong, but from picture like this one : 1727655091_1367365736.jpg
I estimated Abs, arm and leg pieces to be around 1cm (0,4 inch) thick. The rest seems perfectly fine. I also think there is a spine piece, but it's hard to get a good look at his back ! I think its some kind of long ribbed piece like the ones at the back of the knees, but like I said, not sure.

Good point. Important to note there is an entire layer behind most of the armor pieces that we will be adding later. So that adds an illusion of extra thickness. At 1cm thick in rubber it would limit movement tremendously and be incredibly heavy. But doesn't mean it can't be made to look thick. ;)

I will double check but I believe the "spine" is part of the undersuit.

Those shins are mind blowing! It's uncanny how good they look compared to the game! Same goes for the gauntlets, there so detailed! Great job man :)

Oh wow! This looks awesome, i foresee a great batsuit in the making. Totally envy your shin guards, mine are looking nothing like that maybe i need to start investing on a 3d printer lol.

that's actually very much possible !

I am looking into making a detailed undersuit like the game one as well.

Thanks. The shins are just missing the buckle detail in those last pics. I think we will cast those separately. That way they can be made to function somewhat.

Amazing suit, I love it... Great job!!

Thank you, kindly. I'm blessed to be a part of a tremendous team.

I wish they came off the 3D printer looking that good. Took lots of work to get them to the point you see here. ;)

MY God! Wow.. wife just picked this game up for me as an early Christmas gift today. The suit is amazing in the game.. & you sir are doing it outstanding justice.
