This is an interest thread for a crossover prop to those of you who are Star Wars and Doctor Who fans or just want a very cool unique saber.
Saber Concepts Proudly presents The “Sonic Saber” based off of the 10th Doctor Who’s Sonic Screwdriver.

I have been working on the design of this saber since November 2013. The render doesn't have the crackle paint scheme on it but the finished product will have it. I am ready to start machining the parts for the run and need to know how many to make. If you are interested in one please go to http://imperialroyalarms.com/thread/4074/sonic-saber-official-run-thread and post you are interested in this thread and send me a PM either there or here.

The majority of this saber is machined from aircraft grade aluminum except for the pommel, chassis and activation box. (all high quality 3D printed from Shapeways) The saber parts are threaded together, not slip joint. The pommel and chassis are printed using strong and flexible plastic and the activation box is printed using polished gold stainless steel. This saber is full of great features. The pommel acts as the kill key too, just twist to enable/disable power to the saber. The blue bar on the side of the saber is made from blue acrylic with 8 blue SMD LEDs mounted to the chassis underneath the acrylic bar and is controlled from the igniter mini sound board. This is a full reveal saber, unscrew the emitter/choke and the rest of the body slides off revealing the high quality chassis with accent LEDs, crystal chamber, and illuminated tactile switches.

Other features include an Igniter Mini sound board (R5) with TruDrive color mix, a X4 RGBrB high power LED, 8 blue SMD LEDs, 2 illuminated tactile switches, 20mm 2 Watt speaker, crystal chamber, 7/8" x 30" polycarbonate blade, a blade plug with blue acrylic dome that illuminates when you turn the saber on (to simulate the emitter of the sonic screwdriver), a custom sonic saber sound font and a custom sonic saber bag to keep the saber safe in.

I am estimating the maximum completion date to be Feb 6th 2015. (but hope to have most of them done by this Christmas)

Since I have all of the Aluminum ordered and in stock now I will offer a different payment option:

$350 Due on November 15th and

$300 Plus shipping, due when Saber is Complete and ready to ship. (Before Feb 6th, 2015)

The deadline to sign up is by September 6th 2014.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

UPDATED PICS: I got my polished gold stainless steel activation box from shapeways today and it is going to work very, very well. Here are some pics of it. It is very heavy duty and it has a "Time Lordish" look to it too. Sign up before it is too late. ;)

Extending sign up dead line to Sept. 13th 2014. Also, if I can get at least 12 (I have 3 now) I can lower the total price to $850 USD.

Here are some progress pics of my Sonic Saber run. I still have to do the mill work on the emitter, but the machine work is almost done. The pommels are printed from my 3D printer and I have some on the way from Shapeways. I will have a few leftover if anyone is interested in one.

More Progress Pics. I have the 3D printed chassis. I had one printed in blue (inside the hilt) and one in black. The polished gold stainless steel activation box will go on the raised blue box on the outside of the hilt. I had to get VERY creative (with Darth Ryo's help) on this one. You can see how there will be a blue illuminated bar graph on the side. Almost done with it, just have to wire it.

Yeah this is awesome. So does it have a pole attachment to light up like the MR ones?

I just keep picturing the lightsaber turn on noise fading into the sonic sound with the saber hum in the background

Yes, it does have a polycarbonate blade that is removable and once the on sound effect is finished it then has the sound of the sonic screwdriver as the background sound. It also has several saber sound fonts on it too. You can swap the sound fonts and blade colors with just the press of the button. Here is the video of it when it just had the base coat of paint on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WObZsdxu3_o&feature=youtu.be&list=UURo8TgMoCrSgan0A3xiVpGw
