Cal-Hab 2012

This is the badge design, which my good friend neo2daz and I came up with, after some collaboration, for a Cal-Hab 2012 badge. It has long been my desire to produce a Cal-Hab armour, badge and stand alone lid. I have the concept for the armour, in the tactical style of the 2012 Dredd movie, but thought it best to start small. I sent the design to Paul Elder, of paulelderdesign.com, who rendered it beautifully, allowing me to obtain the print from Shapeways. It's my intention, now, to see this prepared for casting, as there has (rather surprisingly, for me) been a fair bit of interest, in the main Facebook Judges groups, in the UK and USA.

I'm very pleased with the results, so far. I intend to have the badge cold cast in aluminium, with the thistle precast in copper and bronze, the swords in bronze, and the saltire sections in a pearlescent blue finish. This is subject to testing, of course.

The rest of the build will follow, in due course.

Thanks! It has moulded and cast really well, I have to say. The RTV silicone picked up every detail of the 3D print, and when I cast it in polyester, for alteration to a plug, I'd have sworn I was holding the original print!

Next step, now the lettering is gone, remould.

And I have interest in this already...seems CalHab 2012 may be coming as a full run. Fingers crossed.
