Uk prop party competition.

TO coincide with the launch of the RPFs first UK prop party i will soon be announcing a UK prop Makers Competition.

It will obviously involve making someing , the events team are getting their heads together to think of something, we have some ideas and will let you know soon, we are hoping to have a cool prize to offer you for this too.

We are not sure yet if this Competition will be open to all RPF members or just those attending the party

i just thought id let you all know where we are at with this at the moment

we have 2 ideas for the competition so far

1/ Stormtrooper helmet design - A stormtrooper Helmet that has some kind of design on it with that be Steam Punk or a paint job.

2/ a weapon design - Blaster or Lighsaber using all original parts. Nerf Gun, or replica guns are not allowed, it has to be scratch built

The major flaw with opening this competition to Non party goers or members outside the UK is primarily how do we recieve your competition Entry and how do we get the item back to you, this is still up for discussion.

We are still waiting on news so we can let you know what the prize will be but we hope to get something really cool.

The Competition will be judged on the day of the prop party and filmed also.

Love the pure scratchbuild weapon idea. I think the trooper helmet would work if you could source cheap 'blanks' as a base; and leave it open rather than limiting it to steampunk. Something like the Vader Project.

yeah i agree i always wanted a Stromtrooper Helmet done with the colours of the Pittsburg Steelers

i think getting cheap seconds would be costly though for the competition

Here's a wild out of the box idea.....

Take something practical and make something from it!! And in reverse take a prop and make something practical from it!!

Could be a simple repaint of something, or adding various bits and scratchbuilding.
Opens it up to all skill levels, is something different, a whole load of fun, and it would be crazy to see what people can come up with!!


For example

A blender, and turn it into an R2D2 blender
A Hairdryer and turn it into a ray gun
Remote control - into a space / steam punk designed remote control.
Storm trooper helmet into a cookie jar!
Lightsaber handled cutlery (Master replicas 1:4 Scale)

Loving that idea i really am to elaborate on it we could just say take a house hold item like the ones you have mentioned and make it futuristic .................... yeah im loving that ... thanks
