Well, if not Toronto, then Winnipeg already has a Sci-Fi convention on May long weekend (Keycon).
Sadly, Toronto is out of my travel range this summer.

But I believe there already seems to be a good group able to make Toronto with cool stuff.

OK a little update here....

I found a conference room that should work really well. 1400 sq ft...tables and chairs too.
It&#39;s a hotel conference room on the main floor (YaY&#33 with a restaurant in there for those who get the munchies...or plenty of fast food right accross the street, walking distance. The Hotel is in Newmarket, just north of Richmond Hill and easy as ever to get to. Plenty of parking....and a nice area too.

We need to agree on a date...ASAP so I can book the room ASSUMING it&#39;s cool with everyone that there be a small fee. The room is &#036;450.00 CDN for the day. At 10 people putting up displays that&#39;s &#036;45.00 each...if there&#39;s more of us setting up displays...then it&#39;s even cheaper..

Also we can get a reduced rate for the rooms there for anyone needing a room for the night or longer if staying a few days.

I think the standard rooms are &#036;129.00 CDN a night but they&#39;d be offered to us for the Prop Party at &#036;99.00 CDN instead.

So...do I have to keep looking for a location due to the fact that we&#39;ll have to divide the cost of the Prop room...or can we just move to deciding a date?

PLEASE SPEAK UP&#33;&#33;&#33;....


If we&#39;re to decide on a date, the room is currently available for Saturday the 12th, 19th or 26th. I personally vote for the 26th but let&#39;s hear from the rest of you.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Yay...nay...

In any case...we have 2 other weekends for May...and if that&#39;s no good then I can look into June but that starts to get a little too close to SDCC and kinda scares the bejesus outa me....However let&#39;s keep hearing everyone.

The first weekend of June would work for me. I cant the second weekend because I have the Toronto Comic Con from June 8-10th.

I will find out what the availability of the room is for June 2nd is.

So we currently have May 12th, May 19th or June 2nd.

Oh and Barrie is about a half hour drive once you&#39;re on hwy 400 coming south towards Toronto

The only available dates are May 12th or May 19th. I have those dates on hold for one week. As of March 2nd I&#39;ll need to confirm one of those 2 dates.
I was hoping that the first weekend of June was free but they booked that just this morning so...MAY 12 OR MAY 19.

Please chime in with what you think. I will personally lean towards the 19th.
I&#39;d also really like to get an idea of how many people would be attending...if you think you&#39;d like to make it but are unsure, please say so. If you&#39;re sure you&#39;ll be coming, again...just say so.

Also those of you who&#39;d be setting up displays can you chime in and say so? That way I can start to get an idea of how many tables we&#39;ll need.

Lastly, there&#39;s an area on the floor that has tiles so IF any of you RD guys are bringing one down...there&#39;s a fair sized area for him to roll around on. The rest of the area is carpet.
Washrooms are around the corner....we&#39;ll have ice water set up on a separate table..and for now that&#39;s it I suppose.

Either date works for me as well...although June 2nd would&#39;ve been perfect....oh well...

If either date is going to be cool then I&#39;m still leaning towards the 19th. I want to get a few more &#39;yay&#39; or &#39;nays&#39; before I book it. I have no problem with fronting the cash to book the room but I just dont want to get stuck with the bill if it&#39;s not a good date for the majority. I hope to hear from the rest and their thoughts on this date. I do hope more will chime in.

Doubtful they will change. I&#39;m getting officially married on May 19th so I hope it doesn&#39;t change.

(The reason I say officially married is because we already have three kids so it&#39;s just a legality I suppose )

David I&#39;m leaning more towards the 12th only because of the Motor City Comic-Con in Detroit on the 19th but if it&#39;s on the 19th, I&#39;ll just have to pick which one I guess.

I&#39;ll be bringing R2 so tile floor is better but commercial carpet works too.

Would it be all right If I invited another TO R2 Builder to come? He&#39;s not an RPF&#39;er but would apprreciate all the cool stuff.

The 19th is fine for me. I&#39;d probably bring a few things as well, so a table would be good.

I also have a few friends that are interested in coming (2-3) to see what its all about.
