Here are pictures from the recent Seattle Prop Party / Sci-Fi Museum tour held on July 8th.

Special thanks to houdiniguy, badger and Docking Bay 93 for hosting the post-museum gathering, getting a group rate at the museum and starting the planning of the event respectively. I personally had a great time and met some awesome people. Gus, I'm very envious of your collection.

The museum itself is a must see for anyone who is ever in the Seattle area. It is full of cool stuff. Being mainly a Star Wars fan myself I noticed all the SW stuff including a screen used ESB Vader stunt helmet, ANH Luke screen used saber and screen used ESB Vader saber along with the screen used ANH Death Star (I hate you Gus ). But besides all that, there is truly something there for everyone.

All the pictures of life-sized displays and other props are from the personal collection of houdiniguy. It is a collection that has to be seen to be appreciated. It is truly something to behold.

In the group photos:

- I (Darth Kahnt) am the person wearing the navy shirt and the NY Yankees hat
- Docking Bay 93 is the person with black t-shirt and glasses
- Badger is the one wearing the Star Wars targeting computer t-shirt
- Shalamar has glasses, light shirt and light blue jeans
- Jumpin Jax is the one on crutches
- Gus has black t-shirt and brown shorts
- Wyatt (not an RPF member) is in all balck with grey goatee
- Tom (houdiniguy) has light hawaiian shirt and black shorts

I have uploaded photos to my photobucket. Enjoy!:

Hehe, while I DO enjoy more pics of all of Houdini's stuff, I was really hoping to see shots of the museum as well!!

Hehe, someone needs to "take a long phone call" with a nice camera phone while touring the museum.....

That's what I had heard, but this thread got my hopes up that maybe they'd changed their policies...

Seems getting close up, high-res shots of the original Death Star is one hell of a challenge...

I have edited the title of the thread to reflect the fact that there are no pictures of the museum. Sorry to mislead people, that was not my intention.

Yeah, I agree Thomas that the policy is way behind the times. Maybe next time I'm there the policy will be different.

Hope everyone enjoys the pics anyways. It was a great time had by all.

Actually, I managed to sneak in a few photos when I was there last summer and toured the place with star-art. You're right, they don't allow photos. But, they can't be everywhere. It's just a matter of keeping an eye out for the employees and maybe having a friend block their view. And a flash would be a dead giveaway. The downside is that the photos are kinda blurry due to the subdued lighting.

I give the Museum high marks for setting up interesting displays, but a few things bugged me. Why is it that every sci-fi type exhibit (in Seattle and elsewhere) has to be laid out and set as if it were in the cargo bay of an alien spaceship? What's wrong with setting it up like a nice art gallery? Yes I know UV light will affect some of the older pieces, but there are ways around that. The other thing I found odd was the lack of books for sale in the museum store. You'd think that with literature playing such a large role in all the displays, they would have a neat bookshop attached to it.

Well, I don't want my first post to be perceived as a rant. By all means, if you are in the area and have the time, stop by and see the place. And, as a former resident of Seattle, I think the city makes a neat long weekend getaway if you don't live there.

Oh yeah, you wanted to see....pictures. Well, they are a bit blurry. Since I can't attach pics yet, star-art is hosting these - so a shout of thanks go out to him.

Thanks, I especially like the Tweeki pic. Tweeki brings back fond childhood memories and I really enjoyed seeing the outfit at the museum.

I hope someone can chime in at some point with pictures of the Vader helmet and Luke & Vader sabers, they are the ones that I personally want to see the most.

Thanks again.
