Thursday was empty. I go as press so was there since about 11 on Thurs. The showfloor opened at 3 and there were just a few thousand people in the entire building, so relatively empty. Friday got crowded late, but the morning wasn't bad at all.
what does press access get you? I heard from friends it's reallly not worth the hastle to try and get..

also having withdrawl.. I NEVER get out of the house because all my married friends are dead socially. All those women walking around made me wish I could get any kind of dating going...but that speed dating stuff didn't look like it was for me ...all the folks who don't need it wouldn't be in there anyway .

AWW MAN. .. yea it was almost boarderline not fun due to how over sold it was ...and when you spend that much money on tickets ...parking ...food ..getting into the city or whatever traveling expenses you want to really enjoy yourself .. i almost felt kind of un-safe there .. think about it there are no real security checks .. steven walked in with a backpack ..could of been a bomb ...a gun .... my arm could of been a bomb lol whats to stop a group of nuts from ruining an event like that ...and everyone would get trampled ... there are not so many exits ...even what if there was a fire .... at least at pax there were these HUGE open floors ... not much grid lock type traffic ...tons of swag being handed out ..tons of games events ... free fun to do ..and table top plus some venders are there till 3 a.m ...you get so much more for your money
I hear you on that 100%. When I was walking in the convention center they didn't even check our tickets. Now PAX sounds fun... too bad it is in Boston. =[

My friend wanted me to do the speed dating thing. I was like, "um, no."

Before you all completely trash the idea of sci fi speed dating, I would like to point out that one of my close guy friends met a wonderful girl at one of the speed dating events at Philly Comic Con. In fact that girl he met is now my best friend. And they're both good looking non-troll type geeks. So don't write it off yet. I would encourage people to try it after seeing how well it worked out for them. I think the idea itself is genius considering how hard it is to find like minded geeks in day to day life.

Total attendance was 116,000, an increase of 9,000 over last year's 105,000 figure. That's a lot of extra geeks!

Thankfully I was able to meet Carrie Fisher after all. Plus Ian McDiarmid and Sean Astin. I would have met more, but there was only so much time, and I only had so much money. I'll have to post pictures once I get some digital copies made.

I had a great time, and my old passion has been rekindled..
Breaking out the pencils to do some drawing, planning my upgrades to the Doom costume for next year, and planning on two days instead of one.

It was overwelming because of how much was there, and how crowded it was, but if you accepted that early and took your time, it wasn't too bad. My biggest complaint was about cell reception. When I was seperated from my group, there was no way to get in contact. We had to start setting rally points and times. It was the only way to survive! :P

their wireless stunk too.. i guess that's what happens when almost half a million use it.

BTW, was there a popular character who is a sherrif? I spoke to someone in a sherrif's outfit that I thought was a law official, but then i saw him get a photo with adam west and wasn't so sure.. later on, I saw another person in a sherrif costume who DEF was not a law officer . any ideas?
