    100 Days 'til showtime!

Hope this isn't too far in advance, but who's coming? I've always seen some neat projects at NYCC.

The entire con closes ~10pm each night unless you're in one of the panel rooms (uhgh) so maybe we could plan a meet afterwards?

If you're staying in a hotel, choose your roommates wisely.

If your budget's tight, your legs are your best friends that weekend, take care of them.

If there's a panel that will ruin the weekend for you if you miss it, get there at least one full panel early. My GF knows DIDLEY about Spider-man but she sat through a whole hour and a half long panel about Spidey just so she could still have that seat for Mark Hamill's following panel.

I'm pretty stoked on this. Sewing of stuff and fabrication doodads has already begun.

    To NYCC vets,
Have you run into any problems with NYPD regarding a) cosplay b)cosplay weapons c)Cosplays where you're pretty tac'ed out?

i've gone to a few cons and events in the city carrying large blaster rifles but all metallic and MIB looking. cops def look, but once up close they will chuckle and just nod and not a big deal. but if your wear a tac vest, with straps and toy guns, def be prepared to get stopped or at least looked at thoroughly.

Yeah... post Aurora CO, I'd suggest walking in with orange tips already on and firmly attached to any gun replicas. Even at that you'll probably still get a dumb orange safety sticker plastered over the end.

The NYCC at the Jacob Javits Center is divided into four parts.
Autograph area (aka Artist's alley) vendor area (top floor) panel rooms (bottom floor) and of course, the comic sellers area. All of these parts are linked by the central lobby area along the front of the building.

DON'T assume that once you're past the front door you'll never see a cop again. There WILL be extra cops on the con floor.

Here is the 'true facts' right off the NYCC website

    Weapons Policy
    [Beginning of NYCC Quote]
Please read this entire policy before attending New York Comic Con. Failure to follow this policy may result in your removal from the convention without refund.

The following items are forbidden at New York Comic Con:
If you're bringing, buying or selling something that could maim, damage or cause serious bodily harm, we're going to take issue. The following items are forbidden at NYCC:

Functional firearms (including air soft guns, BB guns, cap guns, paintball guns and pellet guns)
Realistic replica firearms (including reproduction, fake or toy guns that can be confused for functional firearms)
Functional projectile weapons (including blow guns, crossbows, long bows, silly string, slingshots, water balloons and water guns)
Sharpened metal-bladed weapons (including axes, daggers, hatches, knives, kunai, shuriken, swords, sword canes and switch blades)
    Explosives (including firecrackers and fireworks)
Chemical weapons (including mace and pepper spray)
Blunt weapons (including brass knuckles, clubs and nunchaku)
Hard prop weapons (including props made of metal, fiberglass and glass)
Instruments that cause excessive noise levels like vuvuzelas, grenade whistles and grenade horns
    Whips
    Aerosol mustard
Prop weapons will be allowed providing they are composed of cardboard, foam, wood or other light materials. Prop firearms are allowed only if they cannot be mistaken for real weapons. The barrel of all prop firearms must be covered with brightly-colored caps. Prop bows will be allowed providing all arrows have soft tips.

    Basically, don't be an idiot.

I'm considering it, since the last two years in a row it falls on the same weekend as Rock 'n' Shock in Worcester, MA. Effectively sapping all the "talent" away. Don't get me wrong, R+S is pretty rinky-dinky, but thats kinda what I liked about it.

I go as press every year, so I'll be there working.

The ironic thing about the above list is that many of the banned items are for sale on the showfloor.

    FYI if anyone's interested:

Adult Swim Announces Electrifying Panel and Event Lineup

for 2012 New York Comic Con

Adult Swim will host panels and talent signings for fan-favorite series Robot Chicken, China, IL, The Venture Bros., Childrens Hospital, NTSF:SD:SUV::, and Superjail! at New York Comic Con at the Jacob K. Javits Center, Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13. See the full lineup below and please note all times, dates and locations are subject to change.
    PANELS

    FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12

    ADULT SWIM: The Venture Bros
    5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.
    Location: IGN Theater
Talent: Jackson Publick (co-creator) and Doc Hammer (co-creator)

Show creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer, perennial Comic-Con favorites, will discuss their original series, upcoming Halloween Special and answer fan questions. Launched on Adult Swim in August 2004, The Venture Bros. is an inspired spoof of 1960s action cartoon shows such as “Johnny Quest.” The animated series follows the bizarre misadventures of the Venture family, which includes world-renowned Dr. Venture, his dimwitted sons Hank and Dean as well as Brock Samson, their bodyguard assigned by the government to keep an eye on the family who is then promptly forgotten by the Feds.

    ADULT SWIM: Robot Chicken
    6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
    Location: IGN Theater
Talent: Seth Green (co-creator), Matt Senreich (co-creator), Kevin Shinick (writer and voice talent), and Clare Grant (voice talent)

Seth Green (co-creator) and Matthew Senreich (co-creator), Kevin Shinick (MAD), and Clare Grant (voice talent) discuss season six of their popular Adult Swim series Robot Chicken. Created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken uses stop-motion animation to bring pop-culture parodies to life in a modern take on the variety/sketch show format.

    SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13

    ADULT SWIM: China, IL
    2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
    Location: Room 1A10
Talent: Brad Neely (creator), Daniel Weidenfeld (executive producer) and Hannibal Buress (voice talent)

Join show creator Brad Neely, executive producer Daniel Weidenfeld and comedian Hannibal Buress (The Eric Andre Show, SNL) as they discuss their new Adult Swim animated hit China, IL and preview what’s to come in season two. In the animated series China, IL, Frank and Steve Smith are brothers who teach in the history department of a state university. They also happen to be legends in their own minds who will often sacrifice facts, lessons and syllabi for the sake of being awesome. Created by Brad Neely and produced by Titmouse, Inc., China, IL is a reverse Animal House where the teachers are crazy and the students just want to learn.

    ADULT SWIM: Superjail!
    3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
    Location: Room 1A10
Talent: Christy Karacas (creator and executive producer), Stephen Warbrick (creator and executive producer), Mike Carlo (animation director), Janine DiTullio (story editor), Richard Mather (layout artist and voice talent) and David Wain (voice talent)

Join show creators and executive producers Christy Karacas and Stephen Warbrick with voice talent David Wain (Wanderlust, Childrens Hospital) and layout artist and voice talent Richard Mather, animation director Mike Carlo, and story editor Janine Ditullio, as they discuss their Adult Swim series Superjail! and show never-before-seen footage! Fast-paced animation, flying guts, creepy underlings, and plenty of prison fights dominate the Warden’s chaotic prison in Superjail!. The blood flows like wine and the line between criminal and keeper gets blurrier by the minute. Picture a kaleidoscope of entrails meets Jon Waters meets Shawshank damnation plus a sweaty muscle woman minus primetime sensibility. You are hereby guilty of being given what you asked for.

    ADULT SWIM: Childrens Hospital/NTSF:SD:SUV::
    4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
    Location: Room 1A10
Talent: Rob Corddry (creator and star), Paul Scheer (creator and star), Jonathan Stern (executive producer), David Wain (director and star), Curtis Gwinn (co-executive producer).

Join the stars and producers behind Adult Swim’s live-action comedies Childrens Hospital and NTSF:SD:SUV::. Childrens Hospital creator and star Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine), executive producer Jonathan Stern (Newsreaders), director and star David Wain (Wanderlust), are joined by NTSF:SD:SUV:: creator and star Paul Scheer (The League), and co-executive producer Curtis Gwinn (Fat Guy Stuck in Internet) to discuss both series.

    AUTOGRAPH SIGNINGS

    Saturday, October 13

I can't wait! I'm going as the main character from my book.

Every time you shake hands with someone, lean in for a kiss. It may get a bit awkward with non-RPFers, but it's a price we may have to pay
