Thunder Bay Ontario just had their first ever Fan-Con this past weekend. Not only that but I was invited to display some props. It was an amazing weekend. They set up my event tent next to the 501st tent and it was a blast. It is Thunder Bay's first con and went well, they had Daphne Ashbrook and Walter Koenig as special guests . It was an outside event and had over 4000 visitors on Saturday, Sunday was a little slower around 2-3000 but still a good turn out. I spent half of the weekend answering questions about my props and how to build them and the other half of the weekend doing photo shoots. The 501st asked several times if they could use R2 for some publicity shoots, the organizers even needed R2 for a few publicity shoots also. There was a local game company that had set up some gaming tents and were holding a X-Wing miniatures tournament. They asked the 501st if they would pose for some photos as if they were playing the game, they asked R2 to join in as well. I also got to hang with the 501st Friday and Saturday evening for dinner and drinks. And had the chance to sit and chat with Daphne Ashbrook from Doctor who and DS9 for a while. here are some photos of the event.
