The armor is made using the pepakura method, all the detail work is done with foam, and the upper half alone weighs 45 lbs.

i used the pepakura method to make this
as i said in your WIP thread this is one of the best SM build's i've seen. it just needs a little bit of wear and tear on it especially the helmet looks a little too pristine (not a crit just how i would add to it if i did it). Keep up the awesome work!

Really dam good work and dedication, specially in going down to your local store and treating the Regulars.
I'm not into GW stuff myself but 17 years with my hubby, him being in the hobby from childhood and working for them for many years, I know the stuff well lol (Sometimes too well, Like when you stand on a Gene stealer or LOTR's Spearman!)
Now he has both our kids in to the hobby. No doubt something costume wise will come up.
Thanks! It was fun to do. And there is a world of races with many characters to choose from to cosplay as, which is another reason why warhammer is so awesome. You don't have to go for the big hulking armored marine you can go for an Eldar or battle sister.

Damn good job sir! I'm a bit of a recovering 40k fan but forever a fine patron of cosplay and the hobby as a whole. I must say this is among the finer pieces of work I've seen in my few years of travel throughout this awesome pastime.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!! And its definitely a fun build but for your son do to the weight I might suggest a foam build. Its really heavy.
And onto a different subject
You know what's awesome? Being formally approved to be included in a book of 999 other great cosplay and costumes. A while back I entered my space marine armor photos to be possibly selected to be included in the book, last night I got an email telling me I had been selected and included instructions to submit more high resolution photos to be submitted to the books publisher for inclusion. I have been in a mental high all day, to now have the possibility to be put down in the pages of cosplay history, literally!! And the book is to be co-written by Yaya Han, who is a huge person in the cosplay community.
I will keep you guys posted with this but they also asked me to extend the invitation to be approved to any groups or forums I belong to.
All you need to do is visit their Facebook page and follow the instructions on submitting your work, deadline for this is August 31st.

Awesome! Always interested in Warhammer 40K when I was younger. Unfortunately there was no place locally to play or buy stuff from Games Workshop when I was a kid. This, of course, was before the internet. However, seeing all the awesome Warhammer 40K costumes on here has rekindled my interested in the game. I just ordered the 6th edition rulebook (yesterday) and I'm going to the local games club to watch a full game. Maybe I'll start building a little army of my own soon.

That is a cracking marine costume mate. And congrats on the cosplay book submission; well done! Been playing 40k for a long time and is always good to see a well made costume. Would love to try an eldar costume some day, and seeing armour like that is a great inspiration.

Absolutely awesome man! There is never enough 40k costumers. Excellent job adding all the little things to that really add to it. and make him a real veteran of the astartes.
