Jul 9, 2012 - Toph Bei Fong - Avatar the Last Airbender #1

Toph Bei Fong from Avatar the Last Airbender cartoon.
This was one of those power costumes I made in one day. I made everything on this costume including the wig.

In order to reduce heat, the green sleeves are collar are sewn into the tunic. There is a hidden pocket in the belt to hold important items while wandering around a convention.

This looks great. You could add some stick-on soles to your feet if the convention doesn't allow bare foot.

    Love the character, great job!

One neat little trick I've seen at least one Toph cosplayer do is to get a fake foam rock, attach fishing line to two opposite sides and make little loops at the end. Then fit a finger through both ends of the line and then hold it up so it looks like the person was Earth Bending a floating rock.

Wow great looking costume! Are you considering white/blurred contacts to mimic the blindness?

I wanted to make a rock prop, but some cons are so crazy busy, I would prefer not to carry around a large-ish prop.

Sigh... I would love to, but unfortunately I have a REAL paranoia touching my eyes (I passed out the first time I tried to put contacts in).
