    Aug 2, 2012 - Hope Summers #1

    • What inspired you - I followed Hope when she was a baby, into Generation Hope, but with the AvX going on, I'm starting to drift away from what I thought was going to be the next big Dark Phoenix saga. Sigh
    • How long it took - Not long at all. Only two different types of spandex used in the suit. I made the shoulder pauldrons out of EVA foam. Bought the rest and painted the guns. No more than a few days.
    • How much it cost - Roughly $115 total
    • Specific details for which you are most proud - I did the Generation Hope Ibraim Roberson version of her. It took me forever to decide which design of Hope I wanted to do, so I decided to do the one as old as I could get, considering she's a kid, and I'm highly not believable to look like a teenager hahahaha
    • Tips. - I used textured spray paint for my guns. They were originally Nerf guns lol

Effing sweet. Especially those shin guards, they look crazy awesome! I just can't believe you put all that together for under 115 bucks. I must be doing something wrong.

    Roughly...
    EVA foam: $10
Spandex: $16 (I sewed it myself)
    Zipper: $3
Shinguards: $20 (used at Play it Again Sports)
    Brown fabric: $8
    Medi-wrap: $20
    Shoes: $35

    BOOSH.

Edit: Elbow pads and weight lifting gloves were stuff I already had/needed for not just this costume.

Ahhhh, see?? This is why I need to learn to sew spandex. (Actually, I just need to learn how to sew, period.) I commissioned a talented young lady to sew and talor a spandex suit to my measurements (for a Deadpool costume I'm working on) and ended up paying over 200 bucks. I don't think it was an unfair price or anything, it would just be nice to be able to do that kind of stuff myself, and save a good chunk of money!

I'm surprised you found shinguards like that at a typical sporting goods shop, it's amazing what a bit of paint and a lot of talent can do!

Haha yeah that's exactly why I forced myself to learn. Whereas when *I* commission, that's a good price because the labor DOES SUCK. I just would rather suffer stress than spend money I guess lmao
