    Aug 28, 2012 - daredevil costume, First build! #1

    Other than a Hawkman costume I made out of paper mache this is the first costume I've made and the first time behind a sewing machine, so I'm pretty proud of it. I made the briefs, pouches, billy club holster, boots and the changes to the morph suit hood. the eyes are two layers of mesh from the hardware store spray painted red

    Very nice, especially considering it's your first costume build. Spandex is not easy to sew!

    Nice!

    Particularly digging the eyes and the pouches. AND your exterior night shots. Getting good location shots of your costume, that's where it's at.

    Thanks guys, I assumed this thread went out with a whimper a long time ago.

    Trammell: I made the mask from the hood on my spandex suit, which looked something like this;
    I cut small holes where my eyes and mouth would be. Then I glued it to a mask I bought at a costume store in order to keep the nose, cheek bones and eye holes well defined. Then, I glued some plastic mesh I bought at a hardware store which I spray painted red tothe inside of the eyesockets. Hemmed the mouth aperture by hand since I didn't have a sewing machine at the time. The horns are left over red vinyl roled into cones and filled with hot glue to hold their shape then glued directly on the mask. Hope that helps.

    Here's some close ups so you can see my shotty workmanship;
