Swamp Thing Sculpt WIP

A few weeks ago, I was itching to start another sculpt, but completely NOT Bat related. My Frankenstein Monster last year got me thinking I needed to do another monster, but nothing inspired me. Then it hit me---I want to sculpt Swamp Thing.

I don't know if this will become a full-blown costume, and if so that will likely be some time in coming. All I have planned right now is a wearable mask and a display bust.

I read the original comic series when I was a kid, and that's when I first fell for Bernie Wrightson's art. So my version will be heavily influence by his art.

So far I like it, but I'm going to keep trying out different textures. I could probably mold it anytime now, but it just doesn't feel done yet. I'll know it when I get there---hopefully!

Thanks guys! Swamp Thing was my introduction to Bernie Wrightson's art when I was a kid, and I've been a huge fan ever since. I hope the final product does it justice.

Mr Creepy, I did the Wrightson Frankenstein last year for Halloween. I was pretty satisfied with the mask, but was never able to do the hair right. I'll post some pix of it later.

I can see th' wrightson influence alright immaculate sculpt!!! I was also a fan of th' Swamp Thing Comics had a friend that collected them he'd let me borrow them ta read . Ya are right about th' texture though it needs a little more organic almost mossy type feel ta it he was a huge walkin an talkin plant monster after all. Awesome work bra!!!!

I appreciate the compliments! I'm still playing around with textures, trying out different things. I could mold it anytime now, but I'm not satisfied with it yet. And it's pretty likely I'll offer these in the Junkyard at some point.

GREAT work!!! I used to have all of the toys as a kid and loved the cartoon show as well as the live action show. Keep it up!

Worked on it a little more, added some more texture:







I used a couple of different pumice stones, which added some textures I really like. Not done yet, but it's getting there.
