Apr 25, 2012 - Sfx Makeup Travel Case Build #1

I recently found myself with downtime between a few projects and decided I need a new, slicker travel case for my Sfx makeup. After looking through various commercial models for a design I liked, i came across one from Japonesque.

At around 250-300$, I knew I could build it much cheaper. So with scrap material from work (sintra and ABS) and about 40$ in hardware, here's the end result.
Still have a few touchups and minor fixes to do, as well as adding brush holders, etc. There are no WIP pics but its a pretty straight forward build.

Awesome! What size is it? Just a little difficult to tell in the photos.

It's around 12" x 13" x 14"H. Its a bit longer than the one I used for reference, but as I started, I realized that wasn't going to be big enough.

Very nice, I like it. Stylish, comprehensive and built to take a knock or two.
    Well done.

    Nice job.

The specialist make up cases cost a fortune. I personally use a fishing tackle bag. It's actually more functional as an on set bag and miles cheaper!

yeh, they are ridiculous. Tool cases make great cheap substitutes for makeup and art supply boxes. I made this to be a table top kit at home as well as traveling to cons and having everything I needed in one place.
