Thanks for the feedback guys, and thank you for the molding tips, jameth1971!
What's te best "anti-stick" substance?
I bought vaseline from my local hobby shop. Will that do the trick?
I'm actually thinking of rotocasting this piece with resin, then filling it up with expando-foam or something. Could that work? That will save me lots of resin and money!![]()
That's how I'd do it, at least for the main part.
Cant believe your started that from NOTHING!! im totally amazed!!!! 3 thumbs up! (dont judge meh)
I used a starter kit.
Complete Resin Casting Starter Set
It came with both brush on and spray anti stick stuff. Called mold release.
These kits are small. You'll need bigger obviously.
I'll be getting this next in the gallon size:
NEW! Smooth-Castฎ ONYXฎ Deep Black Plastic | Mold Making and Casting Materials Rubber, Plastic, Lifecasting, and More
I have heard good things about it.
Can't help with the rotocasting. Never done it.
Maybe Finhead or Junkyard Jedi will chime in on casting techniques/tipsI've gotten *flawless* casts from both of them.
Smooth on definately has great products! Its where I get everything.
Cool! Only problem is I live in sweden and shipping would prolly cost a whole bunch? Any good websites to buy their products from?
Thank you for the link! Any tips on what material I should use for rotocasting?
Too bad they won't ship outside of the U.S. I'll send them an email and ask if they could make an exception!![]()
Oh... they don't appear to have an email! :S
By the beard of Zeus that is incredible. I can't believe I've never looked at this thread. Simply amazing.

I'm currently reworking the eye sockets, and also adjusting the brows above the eyes.
His right (our left) brow is raised a bit more.
So I need your help, which side looks better? Left or right?
![]()
Amazing work sir... As for the brow, I would go with left.
Hard to choose!![]()
Right appears more aggressive "angry"!
Thanks, GroundBeef! Do you mean our left or his left?
Dericrw, yeah I know, so would you go for the more aggressive look?

His right, our left is best. No need to go for the angry look, that always cheapens the character, in my opinion. I probably even drew in the surrounding groove too straight compared to the original look, but again, this is your project, so it should be whatever you feel is right.
Compared to the Beagle Bill skull I owned:

I'd go accuracy over anything. If TMG is correct go with that
Thanks for the input guys!
The more I think about it, I am also leaning towards his right (out left).
And yeah, TMG, the groves above the eye is a bit far down atm. I'll adjust that once the eye sockets are finished!![]()
