    Aug 11, 2012 - Planet of the Apes 70's style #1

This is the sculpt I did for my wife, who really loves the old 70's Planet if the Apes, she was very excited to have this. The last few pics show the silicone piece, this has not been finished yet nor is it glued into place, she wanted to try it on straight away because she was very excited about it, so it is literally just placed on her face, hence the apparently bad edges, which it definitely does not have, they are very fine indeed. What was amazing was that her glasses still fit over the top of the appliance, that was not intentional!!

That takes me back. Has she seen the behind the scenes footage of Roddy McDowell getting his make up done? He shot it himself from the make up chair. It is on the blu ray. Nice work.

Hey antwayne, yeah I think she has seen that, but it hasn't put her off, mind you they didn't have silicone then like we do now. Of course it has to be painted and finished off and then like you say applied!! This is just a big want for her to have this, good luck with the costume though!! Thanks for the kind comment on the work too.

Thanks chuckyAPP, I am taking an airbrush course in a couple of weeks, so I am waiting to paint it until after then, rather than do it by hand and risk wrecking it!!, but I will update when I have done it.

Sweet job! I love the classic Apes! I hope you are able to do the wig and hair appliances too, I'd love to see the full makeup!
