Glad you liked it Ghost!
We both appreciate all the great comments about the Auryn.
Now we're trying to brainstorm what she can sculpt next, an easily recognizable small prop from an 80's movie.
Any suggestions?

That looks absolutely awesome. If you decide to do a run of these painted or otherwise put me on the list!

And Welcome again to the RPF.

Here's new pics of my shadow box. I changed the background to black velvet and added 1 3/4 mm glass rhinestones in the eyes.
Now all I need is the plaque

Thanks again guys!
The jewel in the eyes and the shadow box adds a whole lot to the overall look to this piece, I can't wait to see what others will do with their copies

You're very welcome!
By the way, just out of curiosity how the heck does someone remove a song from their head!
I've had this song in playing in my head ever since the start of this project.
I think I got it beat though. . . The Neverending Sto-ory, a, a, ah, a, a, ha . . . maybe not

What do you mean by "metalize?"

My plan is to gold and silver leaf mine, but I'm a little concerned about the "crackly" look that leaf can have, especially on an irregular surface.

Ely, just wondering what kind of gold and silver paint you used.... your Auryn in the photos looks great!

I think I've decided against leafing mine, since leaf has a hard time with texture. If anyone else can recommend great gold and silver paint, I'd appreciate it!

Sorry for the late post!

I used 18k gold krylon spray paint and super metal zynolyte (160 super finish chrome). First I primed it, then I sprayed the whole thing gold, then I sprayed the silver in a cap and hand brushed it onto the auryn. I then weathered it with accrylic paints.

I haven't checked this thread in a while, but that is an excellent suggestion!
I've been telling her to check out this movie again and maybe do something from it.
I was also thinking of something from The Last Starfighter and The Flight of the Navigator, I just need to rent or buy these and watch them again.

By the way, I'd like to show off my new weathering and darker pewter/silver color for the Auryn that is coming Ryusui's way
Thanks again for the suggestion on the painting
