Its been a little while since I last posted or commented here. This is why! I recently wrapped on a music video filmed in Boston and I wanted to share some photos with you guys. Started with a full head cast down to the shoulders. Some sculpting and molding. I also needed to build a PVC injection gun to inject the silicone in to the mold. Also made a neck appliance from silicone for a scene were the creature bites the neck of a bully making a bloody mess! Silicone is tricky stuff to work with...
Pictures:
Above is the sculpture of the alien done in WED clay with a 50's stylized appearance.
Next, this is an early stage of mold making. Building up layers.
Starting the back half
Mold opened, and cleaned out.
2 halves of the mold on the left. Life cast, or core, or the right. The "core" sits inside of the mold supported by the front and the back.
So the mold is injected ( pictures below), and this is the director J.P. DiSciscio holding the raw casting in pale grey which needs trimming and painting.
Paint job finished minus the black eye inserts which were sun glass lenses lol. This is made from Dragon Skin Pro by Smooth on.
In character. This was the only scene he wore a tux. I can't find pictures of him in a space suit
Neck:
This is a life cast of a neck. The sculpture is cheated. Its pushed forward about an inch creating a forced prospective illusion. The flaps just tuck in the back making it look seamless.
Mold complete
Closed and ready for injecting.
PVC injection gun screwed into the mold
Cured.
I"m sorry this is such a small picture. Test fit on my own neck looking at it almost head on. Unpainted
Owned...
Henchmen Masks:
Henchmen masks in clay
Painted and in costume with ray guns
Sorry for all the photos, but I hope you enjoy them. I figure if there were any artists looking to get into mask making, or making molds some of these pictures may help! Thanks for looking! Also finally have a web page now
