    Aug 6, 2012 - Mould Making #1

    Hey guys,

Looking for some info on moulding a bust i have made, I have watched all the tutorials etc and have decided on the silicone approach to do a 1 piece mould.

The question being how much silicone i need to order? The bust itself is a lifesize human head and neck no shoulders.

    Thanks in advance

    Glyn

If you head of to Smooth-On, they have an online calculator that tells you how much silicone you will need. It's usually at the bottom of the page in a tan box.

I usually just order a 5kg kit of silicone and see how far I get. Depending on the thickness you want you might get away with 2 or 3kg but you may as well buy the 5kg.

I like the CFSNet silicone, the catalyst is clear though so if you're new to mixing silicone, I'd get some pigment and drop it in when mixing.

    White silicone is nice though

@TheKingaSwing are all of those Batman Masks made out of silicone & if so would you recommend that over latex?
