Like everyone else, the Creature was always one of my favorite movie monsters.
He looks great! You did an outstanding sculpt! Congrats!

Thank you all! I really appreciate the comments! I've already sold and painted the second casting so I should be getting some more foam it this weekend and then making two more casting and picking the best out ofte two and making the ultracal mold of it and selling the extra!
Ohh, and I'll post some pics of the second casting painted when I get back from class.
Heres the almost completed second casting of the creature bust!

i posted an interest thread in the junk yard for all of you interested in getting either a mask or a bust.
MOst Impressive!
You are very talented and this is a great thread!... I belong to another group that is dedicated to everything classic Battlestar Galactica and is themed towards the Cylon side and is called www.byyourcommand.net ..One of our VIP members is a professional monster maker who works for a special effects company in the San Fernando Valley and he has just recently in his spare time created a mask from sculpt to mold to cast and paint...the creature is the reptilian Imperious Leader wich resembles the creature form the black lagoon. There are many pics on this thread including a pic of the original screen used mask created in the 70's unfortunatly time has all but destroyed the latex leaving a small pile of latex chunks and bits and the interior head frame including the eyes. Like yourself John is very talented and has recreated the IL head mask including glowing reptile eyes.
Have a look....ByYourCommand.net • View topic - Skullbeast - Imperious Leader - build
This is rather ironic as it was just on Svenghoulie's monster movie show tonight. Looks amazing.
I know John does some awsome work! But don't discount your own talent just because this is your first doesn't mean it isn't good!....I thought it was great that's why I jumped in!....lol ...You should join our group! Just like here there are alot of very talented guy's there....and most of them are members here too.
Have you made any armor yet?
Your friend Al

Thanks for looking!
heres a proper update with pics!
its been a huge learning experience getting this far and i couldnt be happier with the results!!
the masks are made of thick latex that had the first two coats brushed on to each half of the mold, then 2-3 layers of latex dumped in and out of the mold put together. each mask takes 2-3 days to cast and another day to trim and paint.
heres some pics of the process followed by all the masks ive made within the last week and a half.
this is the last layer of latex just poured in the mold
and heres the first mask out of the mold and trimmed, but not painted
heres a ton of pics of the masks!!
heres the first mask!
and the second:

fourth:
and heres the fifth mask:
i hope youve all enjoyed watching my progress!
and if youd like one of these masks check out my thread in the jy!
also, the stand that the first mask is on is a custom made stand i did for it and ill be molding it soon.
Your casts look great and the painting you did look even better.
Good luck with your sales
It turned out awesome!.....Great work my friend!...you absolutly have some talent!...the detail is great!![]()
Thank you both!!
The masks are great but what turns me away is that they are latex. Have you considered offering them in silicone? Maybe dragon skin products
