    Jul 15, 2012 - Baby Bender (Lethal Inspection) #1

    Hey.

I started this model this afternoon, just wanted to see what people thought. I don't know yet what to do with it as I'm pretty new to this scene, so ideas are appreciated.

If this is in the wrong section or something then terribly sorry!

    SO yeah using Blender...

    Hey, looking great!

Nice to see another Kiwi on the boards, especially another Blenderhead!

This would make a nice Pepakura model. Just export the mesh as an obj, then unfold it with Pepakura Designer.

Looking forward to seeing more of this!

    Regards, Phil

hmm yes well a complex one it would be! Haha

I'm well aware of Pepakura, friend.

I was hoping there was another option.

you could always sculpt it out of pepekura or even clay and mold it

    Oh haha cool!

I'm starting at EIT next month actually, taking Intro to Visual Arts, so I should learn about clay and what not and have a go then!

Great looking model, but if you don't mind some constructive criticism, I think he looks a bit wide, especially his head. The height proportions look spot on, it's just his width that looks off.

I hopped into photoshop just to see what it was that was bugging me. It's his head being too short and his eyes too small.

I'd just like to say I'm genuinely trying to help and really not trying to be a nitpicky jerk or say your work is awful. I've done 3D in the past and I know how taxing it can be, especially recreating something from another medium and I commend you for that. Your work is really great, I just want to lend you a hand in getting it as accurate as possible.

well thanks mate, I completely agree.

I took that into consideration, stripped the whole thing down and started again.

    What do you think?

    The eye's are bigger..

I know not everything lines up, but the angle at which the screen capture is taken does make a difference.
