    Oct 17, 2011 - Zombie in a Penguin Suit #1

Simple zombie film, however I think outclasses a resident evil movie any day.

I think it΄s a valid take on the zombie genre. Just like Shaun of the Dead was.

Reminds me of the clown zombies from the "Dark Carnival" campaign of Left 4 Dead 2.

I guess one could say the same for "Otto."

"Otto"? Don΄t you mean "Fido"? And yes, totally true. There is that one movie that I am trying to find that goes in the same tone like "Fido" did, I think it was a french movie but I can΄t find it. It was about the Dead living together with the Living, reclaiming their jobs after being revived and such. More of a social drama (wasn΄t NotLD, too?) than a real zombie movie.

Nope. I know Fido. Fido was good. Otto; or Up with Dead People was an independant film that was so weird, so disgusting that I believe it had been banned by many independant film festivals. That's what that movie reminded me of, except without all the nudity.

Oh, I see. Looked it up and yes, very special. But then I΄d say since it΄s much more "artsy" approach it is more removed from the core genre of Zombie flic than the other movies. It looks (just watched the trailer) like it is not sticking to many of the rules of Zombie movies, and more interested in other visceral aspects of dead/undead interhuman relations, an impression that an interview with Bruce LaBruce that I found online kind of confirmed.

E.g. did an epidemic outbreak play any role? Not as far as the plot summary from wikipedia goes:

    Spoiler:

The film is about a zombie named Otto who hitched a ride to Berlin and begins to explore the city. Otto is discovered by underground filmmaker Medea Yarn, who begins to make a documentary about him with the support of her girlfriend, Hella Bent, and her brother Adolf. Medea is trying to finish Up with Dead People, the epic political-porno-zombie movie that she has been working on and convinces its star, Fritz Fritze, to allow the vulnerable Otto to stay in his guest bedroom. Otto discovers that he has a wallet that contains information about his past life, remembering details about his ex-boyfriend, Rudolf. He arranges to meet him at the schoolyard where they met, with devastating results.

    Disturbing nonetheless.
