The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

I can smell the living too, but that doesn't mean I can smell a living person hiding under a bed. Zombies don't have superhuman senses, their senses are no greater than the living counterparts. They don't hunt by scent, they hunt by sight and sound, and if you are close enough standing by them that they can smell you not rotting, then you've got a problem.

Uhhh... except in season 1 they had to cover themselves with rotting zombie to not be noticed and the second it started getting washed off, they realized they were humans. Bad continuity if you ask me...

No, they aren't ****ing bloodhounds. Rick and Glen were also TALKING and weren't behaving like zombies should. Several of the zombies in fact were getting a real good close look at them before the rain occurred. The rain just sealed the deal for the zombies that these two were edible. No problem with continuity, just you not paying attention.

Jeez, you act like I just insulted one of your children. Simple fact is they made you think the smell was an important factor in being detected by zombies in season 1. Then they dropped it for season 2. Dont tell me I wasnt paying attention - I watched the same exact show you did. You just chose to rationalize poor writing ;)

I took the whole lack of smell being there were dead peeps all around and, as mentioned, just sitting in their cars. Personally I think the entire "zombies can smell" is down right comical. Then again, Dale has the permanent smelling farts facial expression so maybe they smell the same thing which means Dale is an undercover zombie. He was peeping into the motorhomes restroom, maybe hoping for a monthly visitor snack? The whole zombie hidden agenda gets weird.

I agree that the zombies "smelling" is odd but it is what they seemed to setup in past episodes. Plus when Amy came back as a zombie you could see she started "breathing" again. Funny that we are ok with corpses getting back up, wandering around and eating people but them "smelling" is comical. :)

I want to say it was in "The Zombie Survival Book" that they went in to why and how zombies do smell. I know it's crossing universes but if you haven't read that book yet, you should.

Okay, but it still doesn't change the fact that there's nothing saying that the Humvees had gas in them, let alone the keys in the ignitions.

Hate to do it because, most of your arguments in this thread are pretty good and in general I agree with them... but...

Military Humvees don't use keys. :D They just have a switch labeled "off, run, start". Most military equipment is designed to be as fool proof as possible. Even the most inept civilian should be able to run it.

The matte painting and not so well done smashed in zombie head after the chase kind of took me out of the story. The matte painting was not that bad, but still not state of the art. I think that season 1 had better fx, but I could be mistaken.

Am I the only one ticked that Shane is still alive?

...this move has me contemplating not watching the show. I generally am Okay with changing aspects between different media (as long as you keep the 'heart' of it intact)... but, I think not having Carl behind Shane's death cheapens the show a bit.
I felt the same way early in the first season, but Shane has become a much more sympathetic character since then. Having him as essentially a red shirt may have worked in the comics, but his continued survival adds to the drama of the show, and allows them to drag the love triangle storyline on indefinitely. Kirkman said he may never kill him off.

Well, I think of myself as being an inept civilian, and I didn't know the military type of Humvee ran on a switch unless I see it for myself. Since I didn't know, there's a good chance that people would assume that the Military Humvees required keys too (as it just seems odd that such expensive military hardware doesn't have some sort of fail safe to make sure someone doesn't steal it, especially after the Shawn Nelson incident).

Also what's that annoying insect noise all the time?

It's an insect in the South of the US called a Cicada I think. It's annoying but yet get used to it and learn to tune it out.

Thats exactly what it is. They are horrid in the late summer. Various types of them.

This last summer actually we had 13 year ones. They live underground 13 years then come up to breed like a friggin plague for about 2 months.

The ground just moved with them. Blerch. Almost as bad as zombies. lol. Not sure if they were as far south as Atlanta during the filming or anything though.

Yes we have them from April to October. The autopsy Zombie was the doorman at my bar for years. He got killed by a Boondock Saint at least.
As long as they don't have another TERRIBLE explosion like the "CDC" blowing up we'll be fine...
We are going to see Alice Cooper at the "CDC" soon.
Laffo.

Pretty cool, Laffo. I'm glad they seem to be making Daryl a regular. Loved his "Short Round" comment to Glen. I wonder if they will touch on whether or not everyone has a virus, and when you die you come back as a zombie?

And, why is this Zombie smiling?

No, I simply know what I'm talking about, having read the comic for years, and read Kirkman the creator of the comic explain these things already.

And that's fine if you read the comic, the writer explained it, etc. As someone who has only watched the TV show, I only know what is presented to me on screen.

The only thing that would make any sense to me is that the Walkers could not smell them because of all the rotting corpses in the cars. Also in last seasons episode they were very close to the walkers, maybe the sense of smell is diminished? I don't know if I could smell someone hiding under a car, unless of course they had extremly bad body odor.

I really want to see them explore the virus more. There is no way with how long they have shown a bite to take affect that the world poulation could be affected so quickly. Has to be a virus that is airborne, then again if the theory is you die and you come back as a walker, then why would the dead in the cars not have come back also. Maybe the heat fried what was left of their brains.

Well, Jenner at the CDC did say that resurrection times vary from 2-3 minutes to hours. If it were airborne, the survivors would have to be immune (in which case the girl wouldn't have become a zombie after being bitten).
