The matte painting and not so well done smashed in zombie head after the chase kind of took me out of the story. The matte painting was not that bad, but still not state of the art. I think that season 1 had better fx, but I could be mistaken.
I felt the same way early in the first season, but Shane has become a much more sympathetic character since then. Having him as essentially a red shirt may have worked in the comics, but his continued survival adds to the drama of the show, and allows them to drag the love triangle storyline on indefinitely. I really want to see them explore the virus more. There is no way with how long they have shown a bite to take affect that the world poulation could be affected so quickly. Has to be a virus that is airborne, then again if the theory is you die and you come back as a walker, then why would the dead in the cars not have come back also. Maybe the heat fried what was left of their brains.
Well, Jenner at the CDC did say that resurrection times vary from 2-3 minutes to hours. If it were airborne, the survivors would have to be immune (in which case the girl wouldn't have become a zombie after being bitten).MooCriket said:

I think some folks are taking the smellnig thing too far and grabbed on to that like it was a super power. Go outside and ask a family member or friend to lay under a car in a parking lot. Walk around and see if you can find them only based on smell. Now have someone stand right next to you wearing something that smells different than everything else around you.
You get the point. Zombies arent dead super heroes. Well, Marvel Zombies doesnt count.
It didnt take me out of the show and it was the best plan they could do for survival in that situation besides wasting the gas in the cars by using them as bombs.
I think it is airborne and everyone is already infected. If you die, regardless of being bitten...you become a walker. Maybe Jenner told Rick that they are all infected instead of what we think about him saying that his wife is pregnant? He seemed pretty upset talking about it on the walkie.firesprite said:

Once they heard or saw the folks, then the walkers realized they were alive, and therefore food. But until then they really wouldn't know they were there.
One minor bit that didn't work so well for me: I've never been in a Baptist church that had a crucifix. Crosses, sure. But not crucifixes. But I liked Rick's scene with it, so I'll let it go.

One shouldn't get to carried away looking for errors in logic and science in a show about the undead. You'll just go nuts. I mean, if Zombies eat, does that mean they go to the bathroom? to they need to drink water? can animals be zombified? What if you get bit by a zombie mosquito? so on and so forth. So no long as they don't leave open any MAJOR plot holes (or something really stupid like they adopt some kindhearted zombie...) I'm content to just enjoy the show for what it is.
The one thing that did bother me was the shot of them driving out of the city on the highway. I'm not sure if it was CG or a composite shot, but something about it didn't look right.
