Michael Parks as Howard Howe
Justin Long as Wallace Bryton
Haley Joel Osment as Teddy Craft
Génesis Rodríguez as Allison
Johnny Depp as Guy LaPointe
Ralph Garman as Canadian Detective
Harley Morenstein as Canadian Border Agent

Long plays a journalist who finds the story of a lifetime in Mr. Howe (Michael Parks), a worldwide adventurer with amazing tales and a curious penchant for walruses. When podcast host and journalist Wallace Bryton goes missing in the backwoods of Manitoba while interviewing a mysterious seafarer named Mr. Howe, his best friend and podcast co-host Teddy Craft teams with Wallace's girlfriend to find him. Depp will play French-Canadian inspector Lapointe who investigates the bizarre case of a man trapped in a walrus costume.

The film is set in Bifrost, Manitoba.

The idea for the movie came during the recording of Kevin Smith's podcast.

Shooting began on November 4, 2013, and wrapped up on November 22, 2013.

Unlike Smith's previous film Red State, Tusk will have a conventional theater release in the third quarter of 2014.

I listened to all those podcasts, even when he joked about making it a film :D I look forward to it.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

Johnny Depp being in there is a surprise. He must have worked real cheap. I like generally Smith's films so fingers crossed for this.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

I think Johnny likes certain roles and decides to do them :lol He always chooses the 'out there' roles.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

Wow, when Tarantino didn't take the role, Smith became very quiet about the LaPointe casting... this is a surprise. I think it was only a couple days of filming for that role.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

I really enjoy Kevin's movies... but I'm not so sure about this one based on the trailer.

That looks awesome! Red State was a very different style for him, and so is this. Glad to see he is continuing to make movies. Clerks 3 should be awesome.

I see his daughter, Harley Quinn, makes an appearance. If she is that old now, I must be really old.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

I'll so be watching this.

Is the last line of that trailer "i don't want to die in Canada"? Hope so, gave me a snort!

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

This is going to be the freakiest movie ever or a laugh riot, either way I have to see this when it opens. That trailer had me LOLing.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

Uh, so let me get this straight--this guy is turning another guy into a walrus??!! Isn't this just another version of SSSSSSS?

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

I loved Red State - the flick worked very well for me (just as I tend to like most Kevin Smith flicks). But, Tusk... well, I'm finding it difficult to explain just how this just doesn't seem all that great to me. From Justin Long's terrible looking mustache to just the overall idea that the film is based on... I'm just not feeling it.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

I don't know about this... I've never been into the torture horror flicks, BUT, if the movie works like the trailer, I might be in...

The tone of super dark and messed up, clashing with comedy... I like it. "I don't want to die in Canada" made me laugh.

Re: Tusk- Kevin Smith

I'm looking forward to this. It's great to see Smith entering into different genre.

I'm very excited to see this. I love that he writes them, shoots them and gets them out so fast. It's old school and it's inspiring.
Apparently Johnny's prosthetic nose looks like a cock so I'm keen to see that, too.
