Does anyone know any information of Torchwood Season 5? I was hoping someone might have picked up some details after SDCC but haven't heard anything.

I'm guessing Starz didn't want back in. If so, would seem like there's not enough network interest in it for a 5th.
Last I heard the ratings from "Miracle Day" weren't enough to get another season anywhere yet.
I think it lost a bit of its charm becoming an american production. This is the POV of an american, of course.
Not that I didn't like miracle day, but...
I appreciated the higher production value, but I thought the writing of "Children of Earth" was much greater.
Loved Torchwood, but Miracle Day didn't earn it the rights to ever be on tv again.
If it returns, it needs to get back to it's episodic roots. Ditch this on-going story stuff that bares little to no resemblance to what made it popular in the first place.
I agree with you guys. It was nice to see what Torchwood would look like with more money but it just wasn't the same. Hopefully if we don't see Torchwood again on its own, I'd like to see the cast at least make some appearances on Doctor Who.
I read an interview last month with John Barrowman where he said if all goes well they would start filming in January.

Seems odd to me that for such a talented writer as RTD, the show never really found it's tone. My best guess is that he just didn't have enough time to spend on the program. The first episode and Children of Earth were great, but I fear that Miracle Day was just a dragged out stake in the heart of this program. Would be nice if it had a proper farewell/wrap up in the 50th Anniversary year somehow.
I recall reading a snippet not too long ago about this... Someone involved with the show (can't recall if it was the writer/director/producer/random person on the street) said they weren't in any hurry to make the next season, if they do at all... I'll see if I can find the article again
Edit: Not sure if this is the same one I read, but it's from April: Screen Rant
Thanks for the link Kevin. I hope we do see Jack in some capacity in DW's 50th. But I haven't heard much on the DW 50th do who knows what they have planned.
I know that both Matt Smith and John Barrowman want Jack and #11 to meet up.
I think they missed a golden opportunity to have him turn up already and make with the flirty on Amy and/or Rory.
I think the fundamental problem with Torchwood is that it's really two separate stories that they forced together as one. On the one hand, you have the "Secret Society" story with Torchwood collecting alien artifacts and 'secretly' defending the British Empire against aliens. On the other hand you have the "Captain Jack Harkness" story where Jack has adventures. I think it was a mistake combining them. Torchwood should have been more X-Files - dark, gritty, conspiracy, secret, etc. The Jack Harkness show should have been, well, Jack doing what Jack does best - getting into, and out of, scrapes. It would have been fun if his Vortex Manipulator still worked and each show he ended up in a different time/place. The Jack show would have certainly been a lighter tone, more jovial.
The problems with the first two series can be summed up in a line from the pilot: "Who orders pizza under the name 'Torchwood'?"
Or, conversely, maybe you do put them together but Torchwood is the antagonist and Jack is the protagonist that travels through time trying to "fix" what Torchwood breaks (Doctor Who meets Quantum Leap).
Personally, I wasn't a fan of the last two Torchwood series. Children of Earth was very well done, but it was too depressing. So, what do they do with Miracle Day? Lets make it MORE depressing!!! Torchwood was at it's best when it was fun with dramatic elements.
I agree about the depressing thing, but acknowledge that it's a me thing rather than an objective criticism. I think CoE and MD were good drama, but the premise was just so bleak that it wasn't fun to watch.
I thought Children of Earth was about the finest science fiction television ever made, but I liked Serenity too! I know people get so attached to the characters, they're resistant of change. I view character sacrifices as both necessary and bold. I hated Miracle Day because I thought the show lost its way. I thought they got Jack all wrong and his character became completely opposite of everything established until now. If they'd have known Miracle Day would be so awful, I wish they would have just ended with Children of Earth. It sucks seeing a show reach it's zenith with one season and then find it's nadir with the very next. IF they bring back Torchwood, I hope they remember what made it work.
Miracle Day was a typical American television spin straying away from what made the British version great. Examples: Life on Mars, Being Human, Shameless, Top Gear...
You're right. I think too much was changed based on "hey look, we're making it for American viewers now!!" forgetting the fact that US audiences had already been enjoying the show the way it was.
