Tex Murphy is trying to make a comeback.

“Project Fedora” will continue the amazing adventures of Tex Murphy, the down-on-his-luck P.I. in post-apocalyptic San Francisco. This long-awaited game will be the sixth in the adventure series, which includes the award-winning games Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive and Overseer.

The creators Chris Jones and Aaron Conners have a Kickstarter Campaign to fund the project that has raised $324,737.00 of the $450,000.00 goal and need help to push it over the top in the next 15 days. Here is the link to their Kickstarter Campaign:

Figures I'd see this too late. Maybe i can scratch up some cash before the due date. I remember reading about the games but I never got to play any.

I'm gonna have to backseat donating to Space Command. But it's strictly a timing thing.

These games were amazing fun, and I've been wondering what happens next for a very long time!

I'll look into this tomorrow. I loved tex!

It's not too late. If you can get a few bucks together -- even as little as $5 -- by next week, you'll be able to make it under the wire.

There is still time to contribute to the project, 10 days left and about 78,000.00 left to reach the goal

The thing i wonder is, if they come that close, would they simply chuck it all if they fell a little short? I mean, if you look at the page, they've raised a substantial amount of money thus far. Would they say something like "Sorry, guys. We'd love to do it, but the whole thing is now scrapped because we were $10K short."

This according to Kickstarters FAQ:

Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.
Why?
1. It's less risk for everyone. If you need $5,000, it's tough having $2,000 and a bunch of people expecting you to complete a $5,000 project.
2. It allows people to test concepts (or conditionally sell stuff) without risk. If you don't receive the support you want, you're not compelled to follow through. This is huge!
3. It motivates. If people want to see a project come to life, they're going to spread the word.

Now this doesn't say that Big Finish games will scrap the project, but might try to fund it in some other manner. If they are short by 10K or less I bet at the last minute someone will come forward to put it over the top.

That's waht I'd figure. $70K, though...that's a taller hurdle to clear.

Looking at what was pledged in the last 7 days averages about $8734.00/day with 9 days left that would bring in around $78,600.00. 8000.00 more than needed and historically Kickstarter projects have a big surge in pledges in the final 2-3 days.

A new development. There are 7 secret high donors every time $6000.00 is raise one donor will kick in $4,000.00. The first will start when $386,000.00 mark is reached, next will kick in at 396 K, then at 406 k and so on. The first goal has already been met and the second goal is fast approaching.

Now that the project has reached it's goal. The campaign has added three stretch goals:

Exceed the goal by 10 % and Chandler Avenue will have more locations and more characters. This goal has been reached

Exceed the goal by 20% and the game will be ported to Android and XBOX 360 if giving approval by Microsoft, text translations in French, Italian, German and Spanish, more recognizable Actors. Closing in on this goal.

Exceed the goal by 30% even more Chandler Ave locations and characters, Additional Story, full ochestra sound track, in game Golf game.

So if you can help them reach their stretch goal.

They just announced a new incentive that will enter you in a drawing for Tex Murphy Memorabilia:

Everyone who has already pledged $75 or more is automatically entered into the drawing to win "Tex Memorabilia."

For anyone who has pledged under $75, if you upgrade your pledge by $15 before "Tex Murphy - Project Fedora" Kickstarter campaign ends- you will be enrolled in the drawing. This also includes new backers that pledge $15.00 or more.

Winners will be drawn on Sunday, June 17 and contacted through Kickstarter

Nice! I might do that. Buuuut I'm not sure I'd actually WANT the fedora. I'm more a fan of Akurbas, myself.
