    May 31, 2012 - Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse #1

Robopocalypse was scheduled for release next year on July 3, 2013, but now Fox and Dreamworks have pushed it to April 25, 2014.

I haven't read the book yet, but was really excited about Spielberg getting back into sci-fi. I wonder what is the reason for the delay, considering his Lincoln film has already wrapped up filming and Robopocalypse was scheduled for filming in Montreal this year. Perhaps he is directing another film before Robopocalypse.

Hopefully he just wants extra time to get this one right. Not a fan of his War of the Worlds remake.

Or that scifi show he's producing for TNT. Falling sky or whatever it is?

Please don't give Square any ideas for bad Final Fantasy spin offs. I can see it now: herds of crazed Chocobos running wild eating people.

Absolutely loved the book and am looking forward to this. The author, Daniel H. Wilson, has another tech book coming out this week: Amped.

Spielberg is getting up there with Lucas on whackadoo levels. He really hasn't had a good movie in decades either.

You mean Spielberg hand' t had a good movie in decades? Warhorse, Munich and Lincoln are all from the last few years and they are excellent.

I think Squeenix has far exceeded their quota on bad FF spin offs.

Yeah. They've killed that franchise and drove out all the original creators from the writers to the composer. I did see the horrid War of the Worlds that had tom cruise in it. Plus i have little faith in Spielberg after that idiotic change he did with ET.

I haven't seen Lincoln yet but I really want to. Spielberg is one of my top three favorite directors with Nolan and Zumekis being the other 2.

For me, it's the classics like JP, Jaws, Indy, etc. I can watch those movies over and over and not get sick of them. When I have kids one day, they will be seeing them the first chance they get. Sure, he hasn't had a blockbuster hit again lately but that doesn't mean his movies are bad.

Spielberg at least acknowledged his mistakes and corrected them. He released the theatrical cut without any changes for the E.T. Blu-ray.

Steven Spielberg Clarifies ROBOPOCALYPSE Delay; Says He's Found "A Better Way to Tell the Story" | Collider

“We found that the film was costing a lot of money and I found a better way to tell the story more economically but also much more personally. I found the personal way into Robopocalypse, and so I just told everybody to go find other jobs, I’m starting on a new script and we’ll have this movie back on its feet soon.”

Ehh, I'd love to see another sci-fi film from Spielberg, but I hated the book.

I watched 'Super 8' for the first time the other day and was convinced Spielberg had produced AND directed the film. Even when my friend told me otherwise I still had to check online to confirm it.

I felt the same too...I love that movie...all except for the end...it could have been done better. But did it not distinctly feel like vintage Spielberg???

    Yes!!

yeah i wonder how many people this screwed over. He seems to have the "forget the little people who actually need to work" attitude a lot of bigwigs have in hollywood.
