Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

I'd be interested in Ayla Secura's backstory. She's quite a bit different from all the other Jedi.

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

Wow...I do not remember Yaddle! It looks like something from Horton Hears a Who. No prequels explaining anything please, that's all I ask. I love not knowing what the hell Yoda is, or what he would look like young.

she was on the council in The Phantom Menace... not much screen time but she is there. yes it was a she :D

so at this point who's to say they won't go in between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope and show Vader in action? perhaps a few hold out Jedi are still around otehr than Obi wan and yoda. We could see Vader commanding troops and bullying other planets while the death star one is being built. Ian McDiarmid could reprise his role as the emperor.

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

Maybe they can pull Pixar into the mix and get some good animated features as well....

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

I think everyone has it wrong. It's not a film starring Yoda, rather it's a spin-off of that great novel from the Jedi Prince Series titled "Mission From Mount Yoda."

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind a Yoda film, but when would this take place? There really isn't any established back story predating EP.1. In the EU this area has been strictly off limits according to some writers and the absence of material speaks for itself.

In regards to Yoda, why would anyone want a film dedicated around one of the most close minded arrogant cowards in science fiction history?

doesn't have to be any back story now... Disney owns it now and they will be written by Lawrence Kasdan, screenwriter of The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and co-writer of Return of the Jedi while the other will be penned by Simon Kinberg, writer of Sherlock Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Smith so they could create their own back stories. Basically EU will live in a whole new way.
just like anakin says: make things the way we want them to be!
I am both excited and terrified at the same time!

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

If they could condense the New Jedi Order down to, say, a trilogy, I could get into that. Though my ulterior motive is to see Traitor brought to the big screen.

Honestly, if they could get Matthew Stover to write the script, I'd even be OK with Jar-Jar Abrams directing it.

This is true and thank the maker for that. It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan. There are so many exciting possibilities to look forward to.

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

i would have thougt a fett movie was a no brainer, but yoda? also talk of jabba to, these seem like hard characters to make a whole movie from

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

I want a Wraith Squadron movie. It would never happen, but it would be awesome and hilarious. If you haven't given the EU a chance read those because other than Wedge, they are all new characters, none of which are a Jedi (well one is many years later).

In reality though it will probably be a spinoff of some new characters from the new movies. Otherwise I'd like to see something that has been missing from the books and games since the 90s. I would like to see a story about Luke going to search for Jedi artifacts, documents, holocrons, etc. It makes sense because he would need those things to help teach new Jedi. It could also make a cool kind of Indy SW crossover adventure.

Luke Skywalker and the Holocron Chamber of Secrets :popcorn :lol

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

How about a Black Sun syndicate movie? They brought them in to the Clone Wars Cartoon, why not a spin-off film?

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

Am I the only one that remembers Yoda's 'backwards talking' in ESB was a PLOY he used in screwing with Luke's head to see where he was and if he could be trained. After Luke figured out who he was, he dropped it! Then in ROTJ we got that good old backwards babbling Yoda, cause you know, it made him loveable!

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

Um, no he didn't...

"You must unlearn what you have learned"

"Friends you have there"

"It is the future you see"

"Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future"

"Decide you must, how to serve them best. If you leave now, help them you could; but you would destroy all for which they have fought, and suffered"

;)

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

The "spin offs" should leave any major character from the original films and prequel films in the background.

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

I've always joked about Star Wars Origins: Yoda, (900 years of adventures!) but since Disney is now in charge, I no longer want it haha! Fett would be cool, but he needs to be cast as tall as Bulloch 5'11" not the 5'8" that Jango was. I'm on the fence with all these new SW movies along with many others, just gotta sit & wait and see what turns out I guess

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

Oh no, thats a complete SW movie overkill......a SW movie wont be anything special in the future.

re: Star Wars Standalone Film (Dir: Gareth Edwards)

This will never happen but I wouldn't mind seeing a movie based on the Death Troopers novel.
The book had its problems but I sure would like to see what they could do with a zombie themed Star Wars movie.
