Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Really hope they atleast follow the basic outline of the EU. Luke makes the jedi academy...Han and Leia have kids etc. And just pray they stay away from cgi as much as possible and give us a good movie. The force is with JJ I can feel it

I know this is not a popular opinion, but I hope they don't do that. I've always hated that direction, and it's why I never really got into the EU. It just seems too predictable.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Fassbender and Weaving are the first two casting rumors that I am genuinely excited about.

As for Plemons, I really liked him in BB, but he just looks too "all-American" for this franchise. Granted, Mark Hamill was supposed to look like a good ol' farm boy, too, so maybe I am guilty of a double-standard here.

Also, apropos of nothing, Plemons' head looks like a block of cheese, no?

As discussed with my friends last night about this,

Why not make an "episode 3.5" and actually show Vader in armor hunting down all the Jedi? Lucas had a great opportunity to do so in the prequals, but you only ever see Vader become vader at the very end of the film. It should have ended showing the star destroyer chasing after Tantive IV!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I've been reading through the last few pages of this post and, although I agree with many of you about taking the time to make it good, I might remind you all that Harrison Ford will be 72 this year and the rest of the original cast is not getting any younger, more agile, thinner or better looking (although, Anthony Daniels is doing alright. but he doesn't really count.) So, if JJ wants to let the old guys have another go, they kinda have to work quickly. I realize they are not going to be doing a lot of running around and swinging from grappling hooks, but it would be nice if they weren't all confined to hover chairs.

Otherwise, I would say just bring it out in 2017 on the 40th anniversary and have a torch passing ceremony right off the bat. Then the Millennium Falcon flies away. Never to be seen again. :cry

They are, it's called the new Star Wars: Rebels animated series and it's set between EP. III & IV although it will deal with the hunting down of the remaining Jedi there's no mention of how much Vader we will be seeing. But at any rate, the new Rebels series will at least satisfy part of your wish.

I wouldn't like them to be main characters anyway, I'm not saying they should hurry up with filming, just to reach the deadline 0f 2015.I'm just saying don't overthink it too much.Introduce the new characters let them develop, in the meantime show the old characters, don't focus too much on them for the sake of having them around.Luke should be reminded of Obi Wan in "A new Hope" as somekind of teacher .Han Solo a retired smuggler , who came to own a bar called "10.000 parsecs" with the Falcon in the Back Yard as a reminder, Leia as somekind of Senator...........So the focus should mainly be on the new characters to begin with.

I just want to get that good feeling I got when I saw the Star Destroyer pass over the camera in pursuit of the Tantive IV in the original film. If they can deliver a moment like that, I'll be happy. I want that feeling back. It's been a long time.

Maybe not in the exact direction the EU went, but Luke setting up the new Jedi Order is inevitable. He's not going to retire and be a farmer on Tatooine.

The live-action tv series that never happened was supposed to be Episode 3.5. Who knows if it would have featured Vader or not. They have written A LOT of episodes already but Lucas said in 2011 that it would cost too much at the moment.

This series may have turned into "Star Wars Rebels", the animated series, as already mentioned.

The epic ship that appeared to have no end in sight :p one of the coolest opening shots :)

Who knows, there could have been some maniac coming along deciding that Luke travels back in time in order to stop Vader from killing Obi-Wan, using a CGI Alec Guinness.... :facepalm

There were a handful of actual preliminary pilots shot for various potential tv series'.
